So I was watching TCT or TBN the other night, and they were showing ‘crusades’ from this tent preacher Leroy Jenkins, at first he looked to be a fake, but I continued to watch and much of what he was saying, I did agree with. At the end of the show they had a number you could call to receive a little tube of blessed water, it was totally free, not asking for any donations, so I called and should be receiving this shortly.

I remember many years ago, my grandmother, a very devout catholic, had a small bottle of water that I think was from Fatima, she would keep it on her mantle around her little religious statues. she gave me a little once when I had a very bad back injury, I was bed-ridden for 3 days, had to lie flat on my back 24 hours a day, anytime I moved, it would cause problems with my breathing and I would grasp for air, one night, I decided to drink a little of this water along with my prayers and it honestly worked, the next day, I was able to move again, no problems at all.

I dont think ordering or using this ‘blessed water’ is sinful, after all, I bless myself with holy water every time I enter my church, so…Im just curious what you all think about this?

Is the water potable??

As for whether or not it’s a sin, I don’t know. I don’t think it is, but I would be interested in the opinions of others.

Hi, mikekle, hopefully you won’t also receive evangelizing material. This offer could be a way of drawing you in to his church by sending you other material now or in the future as now he has your address.
Lourdes water is very different as it was heaven through the Mother of our Divine Savior who blessed this water. And yes, there have been genuine miracles of healing. Holy water doesn’t necessarily have that claim as it is more a spiritual blessing.

Water from a self-proclaimed preacher is a different matter.
If you wish to have legitimate Holy Water, you can obtain some from the Church blessed by a minister of Christ whose authority goes back to the Apostles. It is free of course! Why seek it from elsewhere when genuine Holy Water is available from your own parish.
And of course this tent preacher said some good Christian things. All Christian preachers teach some of the truth, so you are likely to hear some good things from any of them. That doesn’t mean we should follow them, but only our true faith.

Do you know where this undoubtedly good man got his authority. I could preach and bless water, and can say great things, but that doesn’t give me any special power or authority.
You have good intentions, and were led by enthusiasm, I don’t think a bad sin, but perhaps a little naive, ? Maybe.

Best wishes, and God bless you, and may God keep you safe in the fullness of truth

The water you will be receiving is not the same as holy water blessed by a priest or from Fatima. It is not sinful to order it, but don’t expect the same healing results you had with your back, it’s just water. Oh, and you probably are now on a lifelong mailing list and hopefully, they didn’t get your phone number off caller ID.

Hi,
You will receive evangelizing material. Holy Water is free at all catholic churches.
Now, as a NICU NURSE, WHERE BABIES COULD DIE AND SOME DID WHILE I WAS WORKING. I WAS TOLD THAT ANY OF US BELIEVERS CAN BLESS WATER AS A BELIEVER AND BAPTIZE INFANTS. ONCE I ACCIDENTALLY BAPTIZED A JEWISH BABY. LIKE OOPS! I told the mom ,who was very gracious. GOD BLESS ALL THOSE POOR BABIES AND FAMILIES.

I don’t think it was a sin, but I would not drink that water. It might not be clean. Leroy Jenkins is an evangelist, he is not a Roman Catholic. Who blessed the water? Leroy Jenkins is not a member of the ordained priesthood. Personally, I have always thought Leroy Jenkins was just in the evangelist thing to make money. I don’t know, though, and I don’t want to disparage him if he genuinely loves Christ. However, he is not a priest, not even a Roman Catholic. I would not even watch his shows. I’d read the Bible instead. A Catholic Bible. Even if you no longer go to Mass, any priest will give you a small bottle of holy water, which has been blessed by a member of the ordained clergy. When I lived in the cloister, one of my “jobs” was to fill small bottles with holy water. As a young girl, I really enjoyed it and loved helping the nuns.

True. I don’t even think Leroy Jenkins has even been to a Protestant divinity school. He’s a faith healer.

Well, look. He’s three time married, two divorces, one annulment, and has a criminal record:

I see “miracle water” is part of his “thing.” He blesses the water himself.

Not anyone can bless water, but in case of imminent death,. yes, one can Baptize. It does not have to be Holy Water.

I don’t know if it’s a sin or not; but please do not drink whatever they send you.

Jenkins was known for his faith healing, through the use of “miracle water”. In 2003, while based in Ohio, Jenkins “miracle water” was found to contain coliform bacteria by the Ohio Department of Agriculture. Jenkins claimed tests conducted by independent laboratories all found the water safe for drinking and that the state ignored his findings. Jenkins was later fined $200 because he didn’t have a license to sell the water.[4]
