I am looking into a new apartment that a friend gave me a lead on, it’s a small, nice, INEXPENSIVE place but it unfortunately has a history.

Ever since a lady died in it 7 years ago they can’t seem to get and/or keep a reliable tenant…and those who have lived there have tended to socially, morally and spiritually deteriorate after living there a few months.

I’d like to have this apartment due to the location and price but I admit being a little apprehensive, would it be odd, or overly superstitious to ask a Priest to bless the apartment if I decide to move into it? Or am I being over the top in this issue?

I would strongly recommend asking a priest to bless the apartment and explaining the situation before he does so. Our priest said he has personally seen some very odd things in houses and people ask him to come and bless their house (surprisingly many of them are not Catholic but call a priest anyway!).

You might want to have some holy water around – maybe a font by your front door to bless yourself coming and going. You could also ask the priest to bless salt and sprinkle some around the perimeter of your apartment.

I think it would be a good idea to have it blessed. I have a dear friend who is Baptist, who had my Methodist pastor (because he was willing!!) come to her house to pray & bless it. She said that she knew some of the things that had gone on there before it was hers, & she wanted to have it set apart for a better purpose.
I would think that this would be a very good thing to do. Since the Methodist church has a rite for this, I would think that Catholics would too! (Probably where we got it!!).
