When I was a the hanging Church in egypt they had an awesome gift shop so I decided to buy a nice little cross which I now know is a blessing cross. what can I use this for? can I even use it at all because I am not a cleric? they were selling them so I figured I could use it. Can anyone help here?

What is a “hanging Church”?

two possibilities:
  1. use t as the centerpiece of your icon corner
  2. gift it to a new cleric upon their ordination

so I can;t use it at all?
I forgot to ask if it is in fact engraved or painted with the Icon of Christ Crucified… if it is:

The blessing cross could be used as an Icon. (It is, typically, iconographic.) So, if you have an icon corner in your home, it’s a suitable cross to use as part of your icon corner.

If you don’t have an Icon Corner, it would be a good start.

If you don’t, however, it’s a suitable gift for a new priest.

It’s not actually a ‘hanging’ church, per say. this is it

I don’t see the significance of the word “hanging” here.

We have a wooden carved Ukrainian blessing cross on the analogion (little podium) we use for prayer that holds the prayerbook(s) we are using. It is kissed before and after prayers, or even during the day when just walking by. I have Ethiopian friends who do the same.
