Blessing For Exposure to Occult / People with Spirit Mediums?

Hello Everyone,

I was told by an acquaintance that I should ask my priest for a blessing, as I was exposed to a couple bad things. I have some things to confess, but this blessing concerns something different.

Long story short, I visited a relative who I haven’t seen in years. Turns out that this relative has fallen from faith and deals with occult, as well as calling on spirits to manifest through her body and work through her body. BUT since she is a relative I was obviously obliged to visit her, and I stayed at her place for a few days.

Now, I happen to have a chronic back pain, which has been troubling me for some years. On thel last day of my stay, the pain became really bad, and this relative offered to give me a massage of my back and head, which I accecpted.

The complication starts here, as she was sitting behind my back, I was mot fully aware of what she was doing, except the massage which I obviously felt, UNTIL I heard her shrieking and shaking while having some fingers pressed at the back of my head, I then looked behind to see her eyes turned and body shaking as if she was in some kind of a trance. It is my guess that she had been doing this since she started the massage, but I was not aware of it until she shrieked as my back was facing her.

I then told her I was good enough and that she could stop now, I didnt mention anything because she is a relative and just continued as normal until it was time for me to leave.

So I honestly have no idea what she did, or she she attempted to summon some spirit or other occult thing. I told this to an acquaintance who suggested that I ask my priest for a blessing (which I am not familiar with).

So my question is: Is a confession enough or should I also ask for a special blessing from my priest? If so, how should I ask for this?

I would confess it. Then see if anything unusual manifests in your character or you get oppressive feelings or manifestations.

I think spirits can’t infest you willy-nilly; they have to have legal grounds. You have to invite them in OR you have to be accursed by someone with the power to do so AND you are vulnerable in some way i.e. in a state of sin.

A Catholic who goes to confession regularly, wears a scapular and St. Benedict medal, receives Communion, says the prayer to St. Michael and avoids sin will probably be proof against opression.

My 2p. If you don’t notice any unusual psychic effects, forget about it and get on with your life.

Thanks for replying. I am a little worried as I currently am in a state of sin. I intend to do a confession soon and I also wear a St.Michael medal, im considering getting a St. Benedict medal as well. Thanks agai. For the reply.

While you were in a state of sin, it doesn’t sound like you gave permission for the ‘healer’ to put ‘energy’ or spirits into you. If you haven’t noticed any psychic effects, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. If one can still go to Confession and receive the sacraments without being impeded by ‘something’, I would say that you are OK. Don’t dwell on it.
