Hello everyone I have a question on my home being blessed.

When we moved in about 5+ years ago I was still a part of the Methodist Church and my wife was/is Catholic. I have since been confirmed as of this Easter vigil and am now a Catholic. My uncle who is a Methodist came and blessed my home when we moved in. My question is should I have my Priest come and bless the home or is it already blessed and can a home be blessed multiple times? Thanks!

Laus Deo!

It can be blessed multiple times.

I definitely recommend having it blessed by a priest.

Part of the ordination ceremony of a Catholic priest (in the EF ceremony at least) is the prayer by the Bishop “What these hands bless, let them be blessed”. This becomes a power that a priest has to give a special efficacy to objects, food, people, etc. It is meant to displace the devil’s influence over all material things and to that end, the Rituale has proper blessings for many objects, people, and even animals.

A Methodist minister does not have that power, any more than your next door neighbor.

So, by all means, invite your priest over for a hearty home-made meal and your best wine, and ask him to not only bless your home, but enthrone the Sacred Heart there also.

Bye all means have your house Blessed,I remember when a priest would come to the house pray at each room and then Bless it,and we would follow the Priest. :bible1:
