I know this is a weird question, but here’s the thing. When I walk by the church in my neighborhood I like to just duck into the church and do the sign of the cross on myself with some holy water. The thing is, I smoke cigarettes (I know it’s bad, I’m cutting back and planning to quit) and if I’ve smoked a cigarette in the past few hours and my fingers smell like smoke I don’t go in because I feel bad about putting my smoky fingers in holy water. Would it be wrong to go into the church and bless myself with holy water if I’ve smoked and haven’t washed my hands since then?

Smoky fingers or not, it really doesnt make much of a difference. Keep your practice and make use of these sacramentals. 😃

Still go in! Does every single finger smell smoky? Because if you just smoke with your right hand, you can always dip your left and sort of transfer the water over.

Nothing like that should keep you from entering a church to pray by the Tabernacle!
