When the priest blesses a house does anything happen to the building itself ?

Deacons are also allowed to bless houses. The ritual states that you never bless an empty house. The people who live in the house are blessed along with their home. Usually the home gets a little wet as Holy Water is sprinkled throughout. Also, I pray that evil will never enter the house.

When I had my house blessed, the priest used a lot of water, almost a gallon, and sprinkled it liberally over every door, window and in every room. He also blessed the whole yard with water, and our vehicles and dog as well. It was a very wonderful experience. I had some friends from the church present, and we had a luncheon after the blessing that lasted for a few hours. It was a very social and friendly get together.
