can lay catholics give a blessing? I have heard that they can bless religious objects with holy water- is this true?

A lay Catholic can for instance Bless their child before they go off to school. They can use Holy Water as a Sacramental. Generally when a lay person does this they use the from May God Bless us… or May this Holy water keep this house safe…

It’s sort of like picking up a sax and playing music v/s inserting a CDinto a player to produce music. In one instance you are producing the music, in the other someone else has produced the music, you are just using it.
