I was just making a metaphor based on two countries which shares the largest unprotected border in the world and a very common culture. I’m not trying to represent a complete geographical representation here. I’m glad I didn’t use Africa as an example, it would be cruel to ask me to name all the countries in Africa.

What does this mean…“same sex blessing”?
Is that performing a marriage?
This Christian church feels differently than the catholic church, obviously, about same-sex couples and how “sin” is defined.

According to the theory of Evolution “same sex orientation” is a detrimental mutation to homo sapien…

I had a similar thought…when you consider the advantage that sexual reproduction gives to a species in generating and propagating…homosexuality is a digression that by choice eliminates that possibility…and then you wonder why those that digress in their advantage ask for equal rights, for what?

As one with ADD, I can say that being born with something is not an excuse not to strive to be better than that. We applaud our paralympic athletes for being able to overcome their condition, yet we don’t ask this from homosexuals. Why is that?

The issue is not what we ask…it is what they ask…they want to have you and the world believe that it is a paralell existence with the heterosexual norm…just another “normal” way of being…then they strive as you do when confronted with depression, suicide, increased risk of addiction, alcoholism, and the varied medical problems that are part of this unhealthy lifestyle…but they don’t want to talk about that…

No one wants to be the bearer of bad news about a group that has suffered discrimination.

Statistics tell us that gay sex is often tied to substance abuse, promiscuity and unsafe sex practices. A significant minority of gay men also participate in sadomasochism, public sex in bathhouses and group sex.

Many people, both gay and straight, become curious about this “dark side of life” and briefly dabble in it. Soon, however, they come to reject such things as degrading, destructive of their integrity as human beings, and “not who I am.” Why, then, do such things maintain an enduring foothold in the gay community?

This phenomenon is not restricted to a fringe of the gay subculture. Even Andrew Sullivan–a Catholic and well-known conservative in the gay movement–defends the “the beauty and mystery and spirituality of sex, even anonymous sex” in his book Love Undetectable.

And its pretty much the same with ADD. While many have been able to cope with ADD, there are those who live their entire lives in mediocrity because of things they cannot control. We can embrace ADD without having to give in to its dark side. The same with homosexuality, there are things homosexuals can do better (I don’t know, is it too much of a generalization to say they have better fashion sense and art sense?). If they embrace it and play to its strengths while acknowledging its weaknesses and working to suppress it, why is it a bad thing? It is what we with ADD do every single moment of our lives.

Yes, looking at it from strictly the view of evolution same sex orientation is detrimental to any species…
…The two CAN’T reproduce therefore no mutation of advantage can be progressed.
…It’s natures way of culling what’s bad for the species.
…Therefore the celebration of same sex orientation is simply “social” evolution.

It’s abnormal and shouldn’t be celebrated any more than the urge to steal or to set fire to things.

U cum across as really patronising, think its because u put that guys name at the beginning of ur posts, btw im gay and Anglican and personally don’t think a blessing is particularly harmful.

The spokeswoman, who is quoted by CNN, says no.

My sense is that that the new ceremony is sort of like religious marriage, but without the legal benefits and with a different name. I haven’t seen the text of the ceremony, and it might be interesting to compare it with the text used for traditional marriages.

This is the natural progression of Protestantism plain and simple…
…If I’m not mistaken the Lutheran and Methodists also ordain Buggerite clergy and bless same sex union.
…If the world lasts long eventually we will see so called Christian clergy marry a man & a sheep.

The whole thing is very sad.

The LC-MS does not and will not ordain gay clergy (or women, for that matter) although the ELCA does. Stated plainly, the LC-MS says that homosexuality is a sin. Sin must be repented, not blessed.
