It is now 4h36am and I have been up since a little before 3am. For some years now my sleeping pattern has been disturbed so as evening comes I feel sleepy and most times I fall asleep early, often on the sofa!! Then at 3 in the morning I am wide awake!! I don’t mind very much as I use this time very well.

Today I need prayers. Yesterday my daughter who also lives in the same city and who gave birth 2 months ago to a beautiful baby Leah phoned to tell me that for the past two nights little Leah has slept for 12 hours and 10 hours at a stretch. Later yesterday she took Leah to the doctor as she had a bad cough and fever. Firstly I was worried that such a little baby should sleep 10 and 12 hours at a stretch - this is not normal. The Doctor also did not think this was good but we thought that perhaps it was the fever which caused this. Anyway I have prayed that all will be well.

A friend expressed a need for prayers and there are so many little things converging on me at this time that I felt hot although the temperature is rather cold. I was in a hot sweat (never mind a cold sweat!!) as I prayed my rosary earlier. Now I have calmed down and feel the nippiness of the day. I was thinking of all those who need our prayers, those who are without work, those who are ill or looking after a sick person, those who have all kinds of problems. I thought of my friend and prayed. I then remembered CAF and all the people who network, interact and communicate and how although we may never meet, there is a bond, a friendship and :love:. How wonderful it is to know that we care and that we can lean on each other for prayers and comfort.

Thank you Almighty God for your wonderful creation. Thank you most of all for the love that comforts and sustains us.

Blessings to all
Cinette:)
I go to Perpetual Adoration of the Eucharist at 2:00 AM in the morning. At that time Jesus is all ears. Tuesday will be my next time to go. You and others will be included in my prayers. Please let us know how your grandbaby is doing.

HI Granny!, what is perpetual Euchristed? and why are you there at 2 am? Is it on tv? I hope no one is reading this they will think i am a nut because i dont know what you are talking about. please enlighten me? love of Christ Nancy " HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY TO ALL"

Indeed, happy Mother’s Day, all you wonderful mothers! 🙂 🙂

And benedictus2, I fully agree. That’s a good point about how the good things are ignored by the press, and I need to keep that in mind more often. Good news doesn’t sell. Neither do pro-conservative stories in many cases, either. It’s too true. I’ll try to keep that in mind more; it’s encouraging to keep in mind!

HI Lief,
How are you? Do you know what they are saying? i got my first study book today on the Catholic church and tomorrow i will read as much as i can Love of Chrsit Nancy PROVERBS 11:14 🙂

A lady I once knew who suffered greatly from depression once told me that what saw her through it all was the knowledge that she had been baptized and no one can take that away from her.

I wondered then about my own baptism and lately have been thinking a lot about that. What does it mean for me to be baptized? To be a daughter of God and of His Church?

So last year as my birthday neared I decided to stop celebrating my birthday celebrate my baptismal day instead.

I dug up my Baptismal certificate and as I read, my eyes misted over. A profound joy seeped into my soul at the knowledge of being made a daughter of God. The words are so beautiful and so profound.

I then looked up whose feast day it was that day. Aaahh! What joy to find that it was St Catherine of Sienna. And I don’t even know much about her save that she persuaded Pope Gregory XI to return to Rome. I had since read that Christ appeared to her garbed in Papal attire.

Thank God for the saints who watch over us, and intercede for us even when we do not know them all that well.

Hi! i JUST FOUND OUT WHO MY FEAST DAY SAINT IS: It is St Barnabas, He is celebrated on June 11th:
St. Barnabas
tt=23
Barnabas (originally Joseph), styled an Apostle in Holy Scripture, and, like St. Paul, ranked by the Church with the Twelve, though not one of them; b. of Jewish parents in the Island of Cyprus about the beginning of the Christian Era. A Levite, he naturally spent much time in Jerusalem, probably even before the Crucifixion of Our Lord, and appears also to have settled there (where his relatives, the family of Mark the Evangelist, likewise had their homes — Acts 12:12) and to have owned land in its vicinity (4:36-37). A rather late tradition recorded by Clement of Alexandria (Stromata II.20) and Eusebius (Church History II.1) says that he was one of the seventy Disciples; but Acts (4:36-37) favours the opinion that he was converted to Christianity shortly after Pentecost (about A.D. 29 or 30) and immediately sold his property and devoted the proceeds to the Church. The Apostles, probably because of his success as a preacher, for he is later placed first among the prophets and doctors of Antioch (xiii, 1), surnamed him Barnabas, a name then interpreted as meaning “son of exhortation” or “consolation”. (The real etymology, however, is disputed. See Encyl. Bibli., I, col. 484.) Though nothing is recorded of Barnabas for some years, he evidently acquired during this period a high position in the Church.
There are some Fathers who say he may have helped wriet Hebrew’s? Does anyone have anything on this? Well i am thankful for being here, and for Curtis getting a phone call yesterday form a lady in the church. It seems he will be starting his RCIA classes Monday night! YES!

That’s great Nancy! I think the saints are very influential in our lives. He probably had a hand in guiding you back home:)

I have just finished replying ot a thread where he figured quite prominently in the discussion.

You also have an apostolate here at CAF so drop him a quick word whenever you log on.

Not sure about that one. I might read up on it. There is a belief though that the writer was certainly in Pauls’ circle.

You know, you are gaining such wisdom from Christ. He is really just putting it on you; in your gratitude and true pursuit of Jesus you will be overwhelmingly enriched in the faith, and you are being so now. It’s very, very beautiful for me to say; you are blessing me.

All human life is sacred from the moment of conception.

Hello Grannymh!

Thank you for your prayers. Hey watch out! I went to Perpetual Adoration for 4 1/2 years - my hour was 3am but I did many hours when people were on holiday and I took their place and I also did a novena once. I stopped because my husband was ill but to this day that is why my sleep pattern has changed!!! Only sometimes do I wish I could have normal sleep pattern. Most of the time I am happy because I spend the time reading or on Catholic Answers and EWTN at those early hours!!

Baby Leah spent the night here on Saturday. My daughter was visiting with three of her children and my son was in town on business and also because his son was here for a rugby “festival” and was representing his school (they live in another province [county?]) When my daughter was leaving we discovered that she had locked her keys in the car!! We called the AA but it took ages for them to come so the family slept here and although little Leah was niggly in the afternoon she slept without a peep. Little Francis joined us in bed during the night and it was so nice to have them all under my roof - it is such a blessing.

Frannymh - you can pray for my daugter Francoise and her husband Dominic to experience a massive conversion - like that the children will become Christians.

Thank you
Cinette:)

By the way, in my post when I said, “very beautiful for me to say,” I meant “to see.”

Please do ask me whatever questions you may have. I’ll do what I can to answer informatively.

Thank-you, and thank-you Nancy too.

I completely agree about Catholic Answers. I’ve met a lot of extremely good people here, and the site also helped to build me while I was going through RCIA, as well as before. The library Catholic Answers has, the faith tracts and especially the Early Church Fathers documents, were very helpful in building my knowledge of Catholicism as I came toward the faith.

Sweetheart do not be afraid to go for htat Bachelors degree. Find out if there is anyone who can help you with the computer around your area. Maybe someone here at CAF lives near you or knows someone who lives near you.

Do not worry too much about spelling at this stage. You do get your message across clearly so just relax about that now and sort of pay attention as you read. The more you read the more you will get better at spelling. CAF is not a very place to learn that I think because we post on the go and myself in particular hardly ever get to spell check my post let alone my grammar sometimes.:). I would read my post later and cringe:o.

Relax and just put your trust in Jesus Christ. If He wants you to get that diploma you will.
