Blessings of Strife

Lord Jesus, thank you for darkness in our lives
Only then shall we become children of the light
For the blessing of heartache and sorrow
So one day shall be overwhelmed with joy
Doubt, so we may come to believe
Weakness, so we become strong
When everything seems to be going so wrong
Loneliness, so we would extend our love
Brokenness so we would learn how to mend
Storms, so we would enjoy the calm
Betrayal, so we would be forgiving
In a troubled world that is so unforgiving
Sickness, so we would enjoy our health
Confusion, so we would learn to reason
Coldness, so we would enjoy sharing warmth
Hunger, so we would feed those in need
Failure, so we would endure and succeed
Lord Jesus, thank you for the struggles in our lives
Blessed are we to deal with our earthly strife
Infinite Wisdom has placed them there
So we will search, find, and not despair, Amen.

That’s interesting. I came upon a secular version of same
years ago.
Basically, what was said was:

*Talk *to your “problem.” Tell the “problem” what you
appreciate about it.

For example: If I am nervous about crossing bridges,
I can thank this problem for not having to attend
a family function 2 hours away. I can rest at home,
‘thanks’ to my problem.

I hold that secular humanism is a belief system.The fact that human nature does not change, with the passing millenia, means that human beings need to satisfy the urge for some"thing" sacred in their lives.

For some, it’s environmentalism, for others, the
perfect government [in their view.] A kind of a pastel ‘religion.’

It’s perfectly fascinating to note the similarities between
faith in a Deity - same being replaced by Secular Humanism’s faith in man -
in the belief that man is somehow perfectible through his/her
own efforts, without recourse to Deity.
