Hello, whenever I go to my parish to get some holy objects blessed(Rosary,Crucifix) my priest never gets the book of blessings out or says a specific blessing he just makes up a blessing and then says “we ask this through Christ our lord, Amen” and then makes the sign of the cross. I know there are specific blessings for certain objects. Is this blessing valid?
 
Any blessing is valid, but the codified blessings for very specific objects which are probably more efficacious.
