I think many have said this.
If it were more about money, they would have gone after him in his prime…not when he’s basically done with his career anyway.

It’s not about money.
It’s about the fact that he has no remorse and people were damaged. We’ve finally gotten to a point where women don’t have to just “get over it”.
Women are far more likely to stand up now than they were back when the majority of this happened. Times have changed. As the song says “sisters are doing it for themselves”.
I see what you are saying about the money, but I disagree about modern times being any easier when it comes to this…I mean our society has gone downhill, very fast, headline news proves that, its pretty clear Satan has this world under his control right now, Im fairly sure he couldnt care less about any victims.Theres MUCH less good in society then there was 15,20 yrs ago.

Plus, they still teach women to yell FIRE, instead of help or rape, I think this was started back in the 1970s, because no one will come to calls of help, but people do come running when they hear the word FIRE, I guess thats just how our society is

You made my point.
Back when these things happened, there was still a stigma of sorts (at least in the PUBLIC eye) regarding women who slept around. It was indeed, quickly becoming the norm and I think these women felt like if they said anything
  1. they wouldn’t be believed and
  2. they’d be blamed and vilified.
Bingo. Still true today.

You do reap what you sow. They should have never gone to his room, or made themselves vulnerable by various other actions. Very true.
But that also did not give him carte blanche to use them and slip them drugs to make them even MORE vulnerable. THAT was dishonorable.
He was exerting power over them, and it worked.
The manly thing to do was to gently remind them that he was married if they made advances. However, I don’t think they did. I think they all saw him as a potential mentor and an entrée into the business. I don’t think any of them intended to sleep with him at all.
That was all HIS doing.

At any rate, it’s sad to see someone who was so willing to dish out advise on good behavior revealed to be behaving so badly.

I hope people learn from this.
Peace.

Sadly I think Camille is also a victim. How terrible to hear these charges against the man you had been married to for so many years.
It is understandable she would defend him.

I have always wondered if Lisa Bonet had heard the rumors and what she thought.

Supposedly even Whoopi Goldberg has come to believe he is guilty.

Of course, in our country it is still innocent until proven guilty. I wonder if anymore of the sealed documents will be released and how they were released to begin with.

Yeah, i think you are right about that, its quite likely many if not all of those women, saw him as their ticket to a showbusiness career, but they didnt realize Cosby was only after one thing, I know this is how many women rose thru the ranks, back then, Id imagine it goes on to this day in many places, I mean, its almost weekly I hear about young girls getting duped by someone claiming to be a record producer, plus, it doesnt help when all these shows like american idol, they have every tween girl thinking she is the next undiscovered diva!

his son died tragically. reminds me a little bit of O.J. Simpson -the public personna that everyone adored and the darker side.
I don’t know what happens now with all the accusations. it would be nice to know the whole truth. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt to begin with. but now I don’t know.

Seth Rogen, Bill Maher, and Judd Apatow have no credibility with me.

What really strikes me as strange is that Cosby’s wife denied the allegations. After her husband’s comments were made public she now admits they took place but were consensual.
It’s not that they are especially credible men. It’s that they were in the same entertainment and comedy circles as Cosby for decades. When those people are saying “Well, yeah, it was always kind of an open secret”, that’s heavy.

I would have thought a guy like that would have had lots of women willing enough–even to be drugged if that was his fetish–because he was famous. Was it just the forbiddenness of it all that got him going? Was he just so addicted to trying something new and risky he figured he’d just give it a go? In some ways I don’t understand–while in other ways I sorta do.😦
I guess I’m very naive. I would think the opposite.

I grew up watching Bill Cosby from him being on Sesame Street and the Electric Company, to Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids to his comedy specials and TV programs. Even more recently, my kids watched, “Little Bill” I thought it was very good show.

He always presented himself as a good father, a good husband, and good with kids. Kids did seem to love him. He didn’t seem the type to be unfaithful, let alone a sex offender.

Very odd that he could keep this hidden so well for so many years and still be well respected for so long.

Do any CAF members remember Chris Benoit, the WWE wrestler who murdered his wife Nancy and his seven-year-old son Daniel before committing suicide? Vince McMahon has said the following regarding Benoit:
It’s not right to pretend he didn’t exist. It’s one thing to include him as part of a historical perspective, which I believe is okay, and it’s another thing to promote him, which is not okay. The situation is very similar to that of O.J. Simpson - despite his controversy, O.J. was still a part of the NFL scene. You can’t deny that he existed.

*Presentation *is the key. Bill Cosby is the living embodiment of sociopathic superficial charm.

Im not sure what to think about this, I do wonder why, if there were so many women taken advantage of, why did none of them come forward until decades later? Back when these things were said to happen, Cosby was not a huge name then, so he didnt have the power he does now as a major celebrity, it would have been easy to ‘bring him down’ back then.

Plus, the fact that all these women are looking for a settlement, that just screams conspiracy to me, if they had truly been taken advantage of in the manner that is claimed and it effected them to the degree they are now claiming, it seems money would be the last thing they are interested in, really it suggests they can be ‘bought’.
I think that is an unfair characterisation.
Cosby was a star back the, though not as big as he would become. And victims of rape were treated way worse back then than they are now which is bad enough.
Imagine you’re one of his victims and a lawyer explains to you, “You can’t file criminal charges because there’s no physical evidence and if you sue we can turn your life inside out while our PR department smears you in the press. Or you can take this check and get on with your life.”

Cosby has been very successful cultivating the family man image but he was a regular at the Playboy Club since at least the 70s which was never a secret.

So what about his work? The Cosby Show is still a great show. The “Noah” routine will never stop being funny. Child molesters like Woody Allen and Roman Polansky are recognized as great directors but they never claimed to role models.

I can’t say that the Bill Cosby situation hasn’t reminded me of the John Corapi situation. EWTN can’t even show Corapi’s programs anymore.

I doubt they will ever pull the Cosby show though, no matter what Cosby is accused of, that show still taught great ethics and morals, still relevant in modern times, Plus it would penalize the other people on the show, of which did nothing wrong.

But the people in the industry knew and he was able to get away with it for decades. That’s sick.
Didn’t care much for William Henry Cosby (Bill Cosby) as an actor. Unless all these women admit they falsely accused him, he is ruined. He has been silent & if he is guilty, don’t think he is dumb to admit this, so he is smart in taking 5th-innocent or guilty. Phylicia Rashad (Cosby show costar) should not be censored for saying she thinks he is innocent, because she wants to believe her friend is innocent.

People who say he is innocent argue why didn’t the women make these accusations years ago + the fact that he is famous, makes him a target for this by those who want money from him. On other side, if he is guilty, then you don’t always know the secrets a person has. If it were 1 or 2 accusations against William Henry Cosby (or Bill Cosby), then it’s easier to argue the accusations are false. But when so many women are making the same accusations, then it could be that he was guilty. Only Bill Cosby and the women who accused him know what happened. Innocent or guilty, he is ruined.

Have been to rape/sex abuse trials, so know what the prosecutor will say, what the defense lawyer will say, etc. It’s possible to do a rape trial w/o calling the victim. If a prosecutor believes they can convict w/o the victim testifying, they can do so. Rape cases are almost always he says she says such as date & marital rapes, with the woman saying that the man forced her to have sex while the man says that the woman agreed, doing the acts that she agreed to while not doing what she or he said no to. It’s possible for a woman or man to 1st agree to have sex but then change mind & say no. It’s also possible for a woman or man to 1st say no but then voluntarily change mind & decide to have sex. & it’s possible for a woman or man to say no to 1 sex act but agree to another. Rape cases must be judged by juries in deciding which story is credible.
