Such a sad post to read.

We are a country of extremes - it’s pathetic how filthy rich the rich are, and how dirt poor the poor are.

In some places, like LA, you’ve literally got Calcutta level 3rd world poverty within 20 miles of the most extravagant luxurious riches in the Hollywood Hills… It’s sickening, quite frankly.

But American poor are still in the top tier of worldwide income… think about that for a sec. 😦

Tell that to the homeless person walking around covered in feces, digging in trashcans for a meal, and sleeping under a bridge.

It’s a myth that homeless people in America are somehow better off or “richer” than homeless people in, say, Calcutta.

Collectively, it may be true.

Individually, as someone who has intimate experience with the homeless, I assure you it makes not a shred of difference.

Oh, I know.

I didnt mean to diminish the poverty of Americans, but also to say that it’s everywhere.

Ewwww…makes me cringe when this is a justification…tell a child living with his mom in a car, that things could be worse if you were in country X, or a hungry person that in a third world country they would be even hungrier.

I don’t think Max used that as a justification, I think he used it as a rhetorical device meaning that inequality and poverty is a global issue, not just an American phenomena.

My bad…Thanks for clarifying…problem with internet is its difficult to qualify statements if they are not explicit enough.
