…or something.

As some of you know, I’m losing hair at an exponentially increasing rate as I try to outrun financial ruin. I’ve been trying to buy and sell banged-up real estate and fixing it up. So far it’s been a roller coaster, but if I’m going to be optimistic about it, I’ll say that we’re learning a lot.

Anyway, I started a blog about my adventures. I find it much easier to write about this stuff than the “life as a Catholic,” which coincidentally is the name of my other blog.

Check it out if you’re really, really bored:

I like this part

UPDATE: It just occured to me that mentioning “men’s room,” “restroom” and “conservative” in the same paragraph might draw the attention of a certain element I’m not all that inclined to like. Let me be clear–there was absolutely NO toe-tapping involved, nor do I, or Ed Meese, have a “wide stance.”

Heh. That’s the kind of funny you’ll find at Flipping Insanity.

Donations welcome. 😉

Congratulations on the news about your son. May you all enjoy a healthy and uncomplicated pregnancy!!

When are you going to turn your greatest (evident) gift into a money making vehicle?!? You are such a talented writer…have you explored the career options that could monetize that unique aptitude?

Thanks for the congrats and the compliment. We are pleased with the boy, although his paternity is in question. The nurse took a look at his brain and pronounced it “perfect,” ruling out me as the father. I will be quizzing my wife about that at an appropriate time…

I’m always exploring ways to use my writing to make money. This blog is actually one of them, and to date, my best and greatest hope. I hope to build a significant, dedicated audience, and make money through Google Ads, or other advertisements.

In the meantime, I’m still churning out grant proposals for a non-profit. Speaking of which, I now have to go draft a proposal to Microsoft explaining how their $20,000 donation will help us stamp out balcony collapse. (Help us stamp out BC in our lifetime!)

Good grief…you’re smack dab in the middle of the biggest market for advertising, marketing, lobbying, corporate training, political speech writing…any of those play into your inerests since they clearly touch on your talents?

Believe me, I know. But it’s a matter of finding the right “fit” at the right pay. I’m a relative newb at politics. I thought I knew something when I moved out here, but I quickly realized that strong opinions are a poor substitute for knowledge and experience. Right now I couldn’t tell you who all of the presidential candidates are. That’s kind of, you know, a prerequisite for being taken seriously. You should probably also be able to name more than a handful of cabinet secretaries…

Besides, finding a conservative organization looking for a writer who excels at writing pithy, post-modern, smart-*** jokes is rather difficult.

I’ll figure something out, but ultimately, politics isn’t my first interest (or even second or third, apparently). I’m definitely more interested in religious/cultural issues, and you don’t just walk into a newspaper or non-profit and expect to be paid $65K or more. Very few writers get to write about what they love and get paid well for it.

I’ll get there eventually. But in the short-term, I’ve got bills to pay and I’ll do whatever I have to, up to and including Crisco-wrestling crocadiles in a sailor suit.
