If any of you are interested in learning about the Qur’an I wanted to direct you guys to a blog. Robert Spenser is going through the Qur’an Sura by Sura, explaining the text and pointing out what various Islamic scholars have to say about it. He quotes from early/contemporary biographers of Muhammed and early/modern islamic scholars. Spenser often gets called an “islamaphobe” but all he does is quote scholars and texts respected in mainstream islam. This blog is an excellent explaination of the qur’an and how muslims have interpreted it over the years. The blog also contains links to several tranlastions of the qur’an verses. I forgot to add that I would welcome any comments from muslims about this blog and how well it represents the muslim view of the qur’an. I do not want attacks on Spenser, such as he is an islamaphobe does not know what he is talking about because he does not know arabic. Please point out the falacies in his arguments or the arguments of those islamic scholars he quotes.
