Blood...Fruit

There must be some theology or Church teaching on this, so this might be over with fairly quickly.

Jesus said:
*“Drink from it, all of you. This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father’s kingdom.” *
Matt 26:28-29 (also Mark 24:25) NIV

Thus, Jesus instituted arguably the most important ceremony undertaken by the Church.

My question is: why would he declare the wine to be “[his] blood of the covenant” and then, almost immediately, declare it to be “fruit of the vine”, apparently negating, or at least casting doubt on, what he had just said?

Just wondering. I confess that I haven’t checked any sources of information as yet.

He is the Vine.

He says: “My food is to do the will of My Father.”

He says: “Come to me all of you who are hungry and thirsty.”

I believe, can’t prove, that meat/food is His love, and His wine/drink is faith.

For the young in faith, His drink is milk and water.

These are my thoughts. I cannot explain them but I feel confident that there is some merit in them. I said some merit.

Paul also indicated they were eating bread (1 Corinthians 10:17).

The ATE this bread and wine. What you eat becomes your body and your blood.

“Take, eat…” - Jesus

Jesus ate the bread and drank the wine. That bread became his flesh. That bread did then hang upon a cross. The disciples ate the same bread which hung upon the cross.

Jesus the bridegroom, the disciples the bride.

“They are no longer two, but one flesh.” - Jesus (Mark 10:8).

Hey bro, good question.

1. I believe the answer to your question is in the fact that there were multiple cups of wine used in the Passover ceremony, one of which was unblessed.
2. If Jesus describes himself as the “vine,” then using the phrase “fruit of the vine” can refer to his blood, not necessarily the wine.
