Blood of Jesus Oil, Prayer Shawls, or Snake Oil and cover-ups?

I noted that the Blood of Jesus seems free for a small sample, but like street drugs you must pay after the first free taste I am told. The official site claims it is olive oil and coloring. Remember this fact when you continue to read some guy’s claim he spoke to this prophet, and uncovered his recipie.
There is only a donation request for the shawl. I wonder if you can get one without the donation? Is it still a donation then? Sounds like a crafty way to avoid taxes to me.

I googled this guy up and found a site where someone claims to have called this prophet up. Of course, there is zero evidence he actually did so. Maybe I am being hasty in dismissing that fact, you should see for yourself and be the judge of that. Why the confusion over what type of oil is in this Blood of Jesus?

If there are any alcoholics that are following this thread, what are your thoughts about the healing properties of this oil as testifyed by a believer who claims she was totally cured just by using this Blood of Jesus?

Are you tempted to get some after watching her testimony on the prophet’s site?

Reminds me of a non-Catholic who announced that he was going to place a Catholic holy card with a prayer inscribed on it in his car to keep him safe from accidents while driving. I told him that such a thing was superstitious and that he’d be far better off just saying the prayer on the card and meaning the words while saying them rather than trusting that the physical card would save him.

Also reminds me of the people who hang rosaries in their car for the same purpose … to me it looks like car jewelry. Of course I can’t judge their motivation … if it reminds people to actually say the rosary and inspires them to think of the things of heaven rather than the things of earth, fine then.

And it reminds me of the e-mail chains such as “pray this St. Theresa novena, send it to billions of people (or at least nine) within the next half hour and at 10:30 in the morning on Tuesday your wish will come true, don’t break the chain or … or … or ELSE !!!” … Worse than nonsense to involve yourself in that sort of thing, I think it’s actually sinful.

True prayer means recognizing our dependence on God and His Mercy, trusting Him, and conforming ourselves to His Will for our lives.

I’d actually be kinda scared to click on those website links from their description … Don’t shady websites sometimes carry viruses?
 
No, I am not tempted to purchase this stuff. I am reminded from the book of Revelations that there will be false prophets, and this guy is clearly one of them. I love how these people want you to send money to help others, but it usually means to furnish their lavish home and purchase another Mercedes. I did have a good laugh with the youtube video. :rotfl:

I was scared clicking on the website myself. But, this man is on TV most of all Sunday and every other day of the week. He is a Televangelist that has a following.

I remain scared after clicking around the site, but so far my computer must have been able to ward off any attacks.

Like you, I never liked getting chain emails with threats attatched to them like you described. I never replied to emails like that.

Recently someone told me here that practical help to others is also a prayer. This was in response to my stating that even if I ever were to believe, I would offer practical help first if able, then prayer but never the other way around. So, now I see prayer in a different way I never saw before.

Something I could actually pull off and it would feel right. I guess that’s a step to something closer than I realized there was before.

IMNSHO, all those that do this kind of stuff are charlatans and false prophets. Give your offering money to your local church or another ministry that’s actually worthy.

(Which is not to say that miraculous healings don’t still happen. They do – and I personally know of some in my church – but not because someone peddled snake oil or wanted to show off on TV.)
 
In the Catholic Church, it is forbidden and sinful to sell relics.

The emotions of fear that you are experiencing…good to follow them and not bother with weird sites like that…I saw the American eagle, and then the minister and his wife with a brief look at the Prayer Shawl for $150 that was illustrated on his head, and that was enough for me.

Many parishes are having women make prayer shawls and then giving them to people who have been in alot of need. The shawls are made with prayers for the recipient’s intentions, and given by wrapping the shawl around the person as an act of prayerful love.

I would sure like to receive one…but these are ordinary in nice colors and patterns to fit the individual, male or female.

You can get Blessed Oil for free from the pastor.
