The 12 disciples never did that.
God - would NOT have wanted that done - as Jesus hung dying.
It seems an effeminate gesture -
A gesture that little school kids on Valentine’s day might make -
NOT grown men who were traveling the hostile land on foot.
Psalms does say KISS the Son - not blow Him a Judas kiss - lol
Some people have too much time on their hands.
Read the ancient fathers - instead.
I’m sorry, but I can totally see the Apostles and early disciples doing this AFTER they knew Jesus rose from the dead.

They LOVED him. They were willing to die for him. I’m sure, some of them would have blown kisses to him (if blowing kisses wasn’t seen as a pagan thing)

Let’s not bash people for showing authentic love of Christ.

God bless.

I don’t blow kisses to Him.

I either try to kiss Christ’s feet on the cross or, When I can’t do this, I kiss the tip of my finger and touch His feet.
Well… do you blow kisses to people? Some people are not “blow kisses” types of people. Others are. If you are a person who blows lots of kisses to your family and friends, then why not Jesus?

But if you don’t blow kisses to anyone, then I can totally understand why it would be hard to get into such a devotion when you don’t blow anyone kisses.

I think it really comes down to whether you are “blow kisses” type of person or not.

God bless

I kiss icons and statues of the Lord (and his saints). Not sure about blowing kisses.

This certainly seems to be a common sentiment in this thread, and it makes sense to me. If you don’t mind me asking, what’s the difference between the two of them for you (kissing icons/statutes vs. blowing kisses)?

100% agree!

That being said, I’m not not really a “blow kisses” kind of person myself typically, so you never know. The pneuma blows where it wills.

Yes! At least one of his followers expressed her devotion to the Lord through kisses, and He highlighted her actions as a model for Peter to follow.

It is 🙂 it takes some co-ordination for a two year old.
My mum always would kiss her hand and then blow the kiss in my direction as I was driving away from home and I would return it.Im not that much of a blowing kisses to Jesus person but more looking up at his picture and smiling.

Well for one, I don’t blow kisses period, so it would feel unnatural and forced. Kissing icons in a ritualistic manner is an ancient tradition of the Church. There is a certain solemnity to it. It resonates with me.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts about this. That completely makes sense to me!

My only experience of kissing an “icon” in a “ritualistic manner” is the Veneration of the Cross on Good Friday. Are there other examples that you know of from “ancient tradition”? I’d love to hear about it if you do!

In the Byzantine Rite, everyone processes up to venerate / kiss an icon of Christ at the end of the liturgy. But I wasn’t necessarily thinking of anything that formal. I just meant that the very act of kissing an icon or statue is a traditional, accepted “ritual” in its own right :).
