Hi luvstheChurch,

I would rather pray that God give me wisdom rather than intellect which will only make a person proud. With wisdom, a person will be able to see that God works mysteriously. Even if a person knows the bible from cover to cover, or know all the doctrines of the Catholic Church verbatim, but his/her heart is full of conceit, then what use would that be to his/her soul.

God looks deep in to our hearts and not our intellect. A person may be intelligent, but if that intelligence blocks him/her from the ways of GOD, then that is really dangerous. Make room for God’s ways.

Cheers,

Joy777

I agree, but God gave us an intellect as well and we need to use it to discern what is sinful and what is not. We cannot and must not let our hearts make decisions for us. While, I do agree my brother-in-law and his wife, especially his wife are wonderful people, they are still mislead by going to the BNP meetings because regardless of how you or they feel the Church has condemned it and you need to trust Her wisdom on that. It’s kind of like a child needs to do what their parent tells them even if they don’t understand. It is for their own good. When I was a child I had a friend with whom my dad punished me if I snuk away to see and I truly enjoyed her company. But, I was being a bad child when I did things he didn’t want me to do, as his daughter. That is another way I can explain it. I use these earthly examples to explain it, like Christ used parables. It is ok to use everyday examples to get a point across. You don’t always have to use Sacred Scripture or Tradition. Plus, I am not as wise when it comes to using examples from Scripture. I need to consult a priest or theologian on these matters.

God bless you and pray for me and my fiance as we plan to wed this Saturday. Any prayer requests from you?

Let me clarify it to you, it is not the church who condemn the BNP but only some of the archdiocess. In some other Diocess the BNP was warmly welcome because of their faithfullness to the Catholic church. I would say that I was one of those who condemn the BNP before, so I did penetrated to the inner core of the movement. I found out that this is the only movement or community who are so devoted to the Blessed Sacrament and to the Blessed Virgin. It is wrong to condemn before knowing it. The condemnation is not base on the wisdom of the church but thru the indorsement letters from the people who had bad feelings on the BNP. How can you say that your brother-in law and his wife was mislead if you don’t know the way of their leading. The good fruits is come from a good tree. Pray and think about it.

Your brother in Christ,
Tony

Unfortunatley, I haven’t been able to research it, myself on the internet. But, I did ask my dad who has a doctorate in Theology and has been hired as a staff Theologian, as well, and he said if an organization in the Catholic Church has been condemned by an archdiocese, we are to adhere to it. It is like the Pope, himself condemned it. I don’t know if you have actual facts that the Vatican actually approves this movement. I kind of doubt you do, but if so, prove it, please. That being said,if we continue to attend these organizations and their events, we are in direct opposition to the Church and it is a sin. My dad has never heard of BNP before. But, since he is my dad, I understand if you think I report with a biased bent. If it will satisfy you, either I will ask a priest, whom I trust to follow the Church’s teaching, because not all do, or I will ask another Theologian with whom I don’t even know, (of course you must realize I always check their credentials) or you can ask someone like these two I mentioned above. But, I warn you, if you want an unbiased answer, not just opinion, but the truth, then I would ask someone who is not involved with this BNP movement. I hope and pray the best for you and if attending these meetings and being involved with this movement in sinful, I pray God sheds some light on you. Because if I were you, I would be more afraid for my soul, then any way I “felt” when I go to these BNP functions. Remember Satan and his minions are master liars and manipulators. Why don’t you take it to serious prayer and ask a good holy priest who has no involvement with the BNP movement? Let your mind, not your heart, lead you. I just hope and pray your mind is not clouded in any way. Even if you are mad at what I have just said I apologize, but read the content of what I said and not the emotions behind it.
“If an organization in the Catholic Church has been condemn by an archdiocese, we are to adhere to it, it is like the Pope himself condemned it.” I will disagree on this point because archdiocese is not dependent to each other but they have their own decision. There is only one archdiocese so far who condemn the BNP and some were neutral and some archdioceses warmly welcome the BNP. The condemnation was not from the church but thru the indorsement of some people who don’t like the BNP. You can judge them thru their fruits and action then you can tell if they are from God or from the other side. obey God rather than man.

Your brother in Christ,
Tony

In regards to this post, I had put some things up that were very mean-spirited and unwarranted against my in-laws and their children. These comments came out of a place of my own hurt, it didn’t come from them at all. They didn’t deserve it. I love them very much. In all honesty they are great people with a great family. They have gone through a lot and I just tore them down again with these untrue and hurtful comments. Their father is a strong leader of their family and their mother is loving and beautiful. They have beautiful children and nothing that I said against them was in the least bit true. I was taking out my hurt from the past on them and didn’t think about anybody but myself. I am very grateful to have them in my family and I always wanted to learn how to forgive, despite hurt and pain and my sister-in-law has taught me that. I hope they can forgive me and I hope if I have offended anybody else on this site that you can forgive me too. I truly and honestly apologize and will make amends.

I have requested the forum moderator to delete all my posts prior to today’s post.

Aside from loving the Church, I am now called to love others, especially my new family and loving and supportive husband.

I do not wish to antagonize any member of BNP but does Ate Salve, head of this movement follow one of basic doctrines of the Catholic Church? There are a lot of things that she do that contradicts the messages that she claims that was from God thru her. I need not to elaborate but those who know her - the BNP members very well know what I am talking about. I really wish they realize this.

I just HAVE to say this! I am your brother in Christ, Jason Smith, very fortunate to have graduated from the Men’s Special Panawagan Class 136 held in Richmond, CA, November 16-18 2007, under the Grace of God!

Joy777 - you have hit the nail on the head. Well Said!!

paulsimon and luvs the church, I forgive you both. BUT - do not judge that which you do not understand. The classes I just attended were right in line with Catholic doctrine and I must say it was the most wonderful weekend I have ever had in my life! You will NEVER truly know what our organization is all about until you yourself attend a retreat class. Peace be with you all.

Understanding the Direct Relationship Between Your Diet and Cancer

Although the impact is difficult to measure, it is evident that diet is a factor when considering most, if not all types of cancer. Furthermore, diet may also be effective in preventing cancer. There is no concrete explanation of the relationship between cancer and your diet; however it would be obviously beneficial to maintain a well-balanced and nutritious diet. The insight regarding the diet- cancer link first appeared in 1913. Until recently, the phenomenon had been amazingly ignored. The scientist became involved, mainly with the assistance of animals, to determine the relationship. Coincidently, the risk for cancer will certainly decrease if you were to consistently eat healthy meals as well as take vitamin and/or mineral supplements. It is extremely important to live a healthy lifestyle.

There are obvious techniques that people should live by such as regular screening and self-exams that is crucial for identifying potential cancer cells. Healthcare physicians recommend that you actively practice these techniques, yet you must also obtain knowledge of the risk factors that contribute to cancer. For many years, the National Cancer Institute has promoted a program that encourages Americans to eat more fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately, 60%-70% of cancer is the result of dietary risk factors. Extensive research has also concluded that one-third of cancer deaths within the United States are due to nutritional factors.

The suggested risk factors include being overweight or obese, having a low intake of fruits and vegetables, low physical activity and smoking or alcohol abuse. Therefore, cancer is believed to be related and associated with an individual’s lifestyle. Specifically, the American Cancer Society has estimated that women who are 40% or more over the ideal body weight have a 55% greater cancer risk. Contrarily, the men who are 40% over weight have a 33% greater risk. Ironically, it has been noted that cancer occurs at different rates in different countries. This merely suggests that people from different countries have different eating patterns.

No matter what the consensus is on the relationship between diet and cancer, fiber is actually agreed upon as one of the most important preventive measure to cancer. With an increase in fiber intake, it is possible to consume less fat and calories. The fiber-rich foods enhances the intensity of our diets and contributes to satiety. You are able to obtain fiber in a variety of ways. Fiber is found in vegetables, fruits and grains. These items are discharged in two categories: soluble and insoluble. Ideally, it is recommended to increase the intake of breads, cereals, legumes (beans and peas) and of course, more fruits and vegetables.

Although it is highly sensitive at this point, the American Institute for Cancer Research has identified foods that are promising for preventing cancer. First of all, the institute suggests that beans and legumes may lower risk of prostate, breast and pancreatic cancer. Berries are expected to lower the risk of skin, bladder, and lung or breast cancer. More over, the cruciferous vegetables possibly lower the contingency for lung, stomach, colorectal, prostate and bladder cancer. Cancer of the bladder, colon, stomach, pancreas and esophagus may be prevented by consuming green tea. Finally, prostate cancer may be avoided by eating tomatoes. Additionally, it is suggested by the American Institute for Cancer Research that consuming whole grains may lower the risks for all cancers.

In conclusion, there are five dietary guidelines that may save your life from Cancer. It is recommended that you eat at least five servings of fruits and vegetables everyday. And again, you should eat high fiber foods to include limiting the fat intake. You should always stay or become physically fit. Last, but not least, limit the consumption of alcohol. Bottom line, improving your diet and overall lifestyle generally protects your body against cancer.

I would like to address this so-called " banning " of the
Banal Na pag-aaral from dioceses . In the Catholic Church ( Roman Rite ) this power or ablility is reserved only for the Pope,
The diocese did not ban the BNP , but rather banned their priests from administering the Holy Sacraments ( i.e. baptism , communion , matrimony … etc. ) to any member of the BNP , this was a result of a advisory letter from the late Cardinal Sin which was later rescinded in the Philippine dioceses.

I know that this is a fine line for some , but this would put the BNP in fine company . Why ? because if you read
the biographies of the Late Padre Pio and Mother Teresa of Calcutta , you will see that they underwent the same treatment.

Please don;t take the above statement as comparing the BNP
members to these very holy people . All I’m implying is that we are all misunderstood and rejected in some points in our lives .
Even if our motivation is to do good , we are greeted with suspicion and rejection. This is the point I am trying to make.

May God bless all of us as we go through our own journey
to His Heavenly Kingdom .

Please mention the specific Dogma and doctine of the Catholic Church that Ate Salve has broken or contradicted. I personally attended a retreat class and every topic and subject discussed
were in agreement to Catholic tenets

HEY BELIEVER112! I just attended a retreat class too! Men’s Special Panawagan Class #136 in Richmond, CA, though I am from Sacramento. Where are you located?

That may have been the case in the Philipines but in the diocese of San Bernadino, BNP was indeed banned. Bishop Barnes’ letter (linked above) stated that BNP was prohibited from holding any activities at Church facilities, priests could not participate in any way and all Catholics in the diocese were prohibited from joining BNP.

This is completely within the authority of the Bishop for his own diocese. It is untrue that only the Pope can do this. If the BNP members wanted to appeal to the Vatican, they could but until then the Bishops order stands.

How unfortunate that the bishop of San Bernardino has such a misunderstanding. Let us all pray for him. BNP actually has a good standing within the Vatican itself. There are a few BNP grads actually working there.

Thanks to all who participated. This thread is now closed.
