I know…😃

There is an interesting story about Anka and his song, though. Many years ago, Feminists and Pro-Abortion people were deeply offended by the song and the lyrics “This is your way of showing me how much you love me.” Or something like it.
They bit Anka’s ear off about it in the media and other places.
In response Anka wrote another Song------“You’re Killing My Baby.” Attaboy, Paul. 😛

Personally, Listening to Manilow all day non-stop would be my equivalent of being in Dante’s Ninth Circle Of Hell. 👍
I remember that. Do you remember the same feminist outrage over I’ve Never Been To Me by Charlene?

Manilow had some stage patter about the number of men dragged unwillingly to his concerts. He also had a set consisting of nothing but the advertising jingles he wrote. Put Barry in the 7th Circle, Violent against the ears.

Hi all,
I think Geldof got it wrong. He should apologise for the cacophony that was the boomtown rats. Far worse than any charity singles!
God Bless,
Colmcille.

The Boomtown Rats were cool. “I Don’t Like Mondays” is one of the most prophetic songs ever recorded. (If you don’t know story the behind that song, Google it,) It’s too bad they didn’t get more mainstream attention in the U.S. Y’all on the other side of the pond, you get all the cool music, like John Cage’s silent piece being campaigned for U.K. #1 top song Christmas week. (Seriously.) That would NEVER happen in the U.S.

Hi havana,
Funny you mention “I Dont Like Mondays” as that is one of the reasons I dislike them so much. Geldof can’t sing, it is a kind of talk-song, the lyrics are clumsy and it was deeply offensive to the parents of those kids that were murdered. But then, most rock stars only have a social conscience when it suits them.
God Bless,
Colmcille.

I like the idea of the silent piece. Next time I dislike the bar band, I’ll ask for that instead of the usual “Take Five”.
