I was in mass this wekend as a member of a non profit organization. So I ended up sitting through four masses, but I only took the Eucharist once. I skipped the blood of Christ because of my addiction history. Was I correct or should I have taken the Eucharist in every mass? Is it frowned upon when you skip the wine? Even before my addicition I had a phobia of drinking out of the same cup as everyone else now I have a good excuse not to. Opinions?

One time is fine. Two times is the max. God does not frown, so don’t sweat not sharing in the PB.

One Sacred Species is enough. Jesus is God and cannot be divided, He is fully present in each Sacred Species. Receiving both is just a complete sign, but the grace, the reception of Christ is the same. So skipping out on the Prescious Blood is not a big issue.

And we are just asked to receive once a day, twice max. Anything beyond that is subject to necessity such as danger of death.

It doesn’t apply to the situation you were it, but just for future information, the rule is you can receive twice in one day (24 hour day), but the second time must be at Mass (not at a communion service or with a sick family member in the hospital or the like). You may receive a third time if you are in danger of death.

As for receiving from the cup, the receive the full Body and Blood of Christ in receiving both the host or the cup, both are not necessary. Many receive both as “the sign of communion is more complete when given under both kinds,” but it is by no means necessary in any way.
