Actually, it is very real but my understanding is that there is no scientific way to explain it happening so the sicentists just don’t talk about it at all.Okay, so many saints are reported as their bodies not deteriorating after death. I don’t understand how this could happen. I don’t want to doubt miracles, but wouldn’t critic of the Church jump on this opportunity to call B.S. on the Church?
I have the book. It is worth reading.I don’t know why they would call B.S. on the Church - there have been tests done on the bodies (we still have many of them) that show no embalming has been performed and that these are humans (though some do have facial ‘masks’ made of wax).
The Incorruptibles is an excellent book on the subject. Very interesting, with many pictures too. Some of these Saints have been buried in chemicals to hasten their decompostition, but still turn out to be Incorrupt, and some have opened their eyes or shifted positions while still dead.

Why? right up until about 100 years ago it was very common for people to wear lockets or other jewellery with hair of their deceased (or living for that matter) loved ones.I dunno, I find the whole concept of relics, particularly Saint’s body parts, as kind of creepy. The Cure de Ars comes to mind, I remember seeing a picture of St.John Vianney’s heart displayed as a relic.

When I was a child the first tooth I lost was made into a necklace by my grandmother - my mother still has it somewhere.
Sometimes (although not so often) today a guy or a girl still asks for a lock of their beloved’s hair. I have a lock of hair from my dearly-loved godson.
Having physical reminders around of your loved ones, whether living or dead, is a great comfort and help for some people. If you don’t find it so, then you don’t need to see 'em, but don’t criticise!

Well not every saint is incorrupt, but still, the Lord Jesus Christ could come down from Heaven on a cloud of morning glories with a train of angels blaring on trumpets and a choir of cherubs singing “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty” behind him and there would STILL be people who didn’t believe in Jesus.It just seems surprising that people wouldn’t be like “OH NOES!!!
