One of my friends is going to compete in a bodybuilding competition. I am not into bodybuilding and train with powerlifters but I thought it would be nice to be supportive and go to his show.

I was wondering whether it is considered sinful or not. The competitions is about evaluating bodies and being judged strictly on appearance. There will be figure competitors and male/female bodybuilders. I think it would be a fun day out but is it considered a sin to be judging and looking at the men and women competing.
 
They’re judging for the competition, they’re not judging them as people. I see it the same as any other competition.

So no, I don’t think it’s a sin.
 
I do not believe it would be a sin by itself, but I would suggest safeguarding yourself against possible secondary sins, such as lust.

k8e308 - The sin of lust could be a problem. I have been saying many Hail Mary’s and that helps 🙂 I should be able to keep my thoughts under control for one day 🙂
 
Probably depends on your personality. Myself when I see muscularly massive female body builders in magazines I don’t find them attractive, even in revealing clothes. Would be no occasion of sin for me.

Relax the same woman and put her in an otherwise modest outfit except for a plunging neckline and I have to constantly remind myself to just watch the eyes.

We men are weird!

LOL! I pretty safe with the female bbers too since I am female 🙂
