One of the most overplayed songs in the history of radio.

Yes, but I don’t think Freddie ever directly commented on the meaning of the song, nor have the remaining members of Queen. I posted in the context of the OP’s question. If he likes the song, he can just have fun listening to it and not take it or the meaning behind the lyrics (whatever that may be) too seriously.

I believe if this song doesn’t move you then you’re dead inside. It’s about repentance, or remorse at least. It’s about a dude about to die crying for his mother.

A very good reflection, imo, of the human person.

There is so much to it - a plea for mercy, rejection and abandonment by those who claimed to love him, and false bravado in the face of death (“nothing really matters”? to someone who has just spent a whole song pouring his heart and soul out about things that clearly matter a lot?)

Want a real sing along song, with real emotion? Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison. I was in a pub in Scotland, when a bar fight started. Rather than wait for it to escalate, the bartender put on Van the Man. Instead of fighting, everybody sang along!

Yeah, but if they’d put on BoRhap everyone would’ve been headbanging to the guitar solo and by the end would’ve been linking arms and swaying to the music as well 😃

Or they would have beat up the bartender for playing such a rococco and bloated song!
🤣

As a member of SSPI, I reject all music, religious or secular, composed after the 2nd century. All of it, without exception, is inspired by Satan himself.
Those of you not familiar with our organization can google “Society of St Pius I”.

Twf,
Panis Angelicus and Ave Maria are inspired by Satan? OK, then…
So if you reject things after the second century, what does your Bible look like?

So I’m the most gullible girl on the internet. Well played, twf!

The thing is, I googled it. But I barely read it. I googled and just thought oh my, it is real. Lesson learned.

This song is about faith and family and integrity. Real music for real men.

Rococco and bloated? Reminds me of the Austrian Emperor telling Mozart that his music had “too many notes”, to which Mozart replied “not one note more than there should be!”

That was a great scene.
And nothing compares to Mozart’s Requiem.
