You’re from Darlo? I have a longtime Facebook friend who lives there. Friend is a US expat who happened to marry someone from there after meeting online, and finds the town to be a bit unusual. Just sent them this article.

It’s just really different from where the person grew up in USA. They have a nice little house but their next door neighbors are some kind of gypsies who live a crazy wealthy chav lifestyle. Lots of chav stuff they run into in general. I think some of the issues could apply to the UK in general and not just Darlington. I would like to visit the place one day as I’ve not been to that part of UK yet. By the way, I hope “chav” isn’t a horrible word to post on here, it’s what my friend uses and I honestly never heard it until they started using it, so sorry if it is rude.
