Good afternoon from Austin, Texas.

I will be teaching 5th grade CCD this year and am loking for additinal resource material to backup the primary text book we will be using.

The subject matter will be the Sacrements. Does anyone recommend any books to serve as background, reference, general survey, etc - other than the Catechism?

Thank you.

An absolutely wonderful book on Sacraments that will give you a history of the development as well as theological meaning is Doors To The Sacred: A Historical Introduction to the Sacraments in the Catholic Church by Joseph Martos. It’s published by Liguori/Triumph ISBN 0-7648-0718-8. It’s available through Amazon amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0764807188/ref=olp_product_details/002-0056982-2500852?%5Fencoding=UTF8&v=glance for under $15.

I would suggest getting a book of Bible stories, and reading a story to the kids each class period.
