Catholics are not forbidden to read the works of non-Catholic theologians. You might be interested in reading some Dorothy Day as well.

Although it has been said, the test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposed ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.

I do submit we must carefully discern & closely examine what we admit in. Then if we proceed we must cautiously see it with the correct lens & the Spirit guiding us…
