I am editing my original post to say I found another thread: [Refuting Bart Ehrman](Refuting Bart Ehrman)

Thanks - peace,
Mimi
Your link is broken. I think you wrote “Refuting Bart Ehrman” in the part where the actual URL is supposed to go. When I click on it it tries to send me to:

hxxp://Refuting Bart Ehrman

I thought, wow this is a fascinating book!
Then I read Timothy Paul Jones’ “Misquoting Truth: A Guide to the Fallacies of Bart Ehrman’s ‘Misquoting Jesus’,” and thought, wow what a fascinatinger book!! In fact, Jones’ book serves as incredible introduction into something, I don’t know what, like “exegesis” or “textual criticism” or “historical analysis.”
Anyway:
"As much as Ehrman is inciteful, Jones is all the more insightful." 😉

I will also take the word of my Church as to the veracity of the documents over any one person’s opinion.
Coming from Mormonism, I cringe a bit when I read statements like this. I haven’t read his book, but I’ve watched a couple speeches he’s given on the subject. Even then, the major inconsistencies of the bible he brings up doesn’t provide me enough evidence to doubt its reliability. The one thing I find refreshing about Catholicism is the willingness to discuss and debate any topic, whether good or bad, and that positions are based on fact and reason. The religion I’m coming from…not so much.

Fascinating comment.* Can you tell me what finally brought you out of that church?* I’ve been sitting with Mormon missionaries, business men, etc.,* for the better part of two years now trying to gently argue with them about faith and it’s necessary reliance on reason as a basis for truth claims.* You can imagine the confused looks I’ve gotten.*
