I’m interested in learning more about the discoveries of Egyptologists, their interpretations of the Book of Abraham, and, most important, LDS reaction (hierarchy and laypersons) to the problems with the BOA following the scholarly discoveries. Can anyone help me by recommending good books on this topic? I haven’t read much other than the Ostlings’ book (and the discussions on this board). Thank you.

I second Paul’s recommendation if you want to get a mormon critic’s view of the Book of Abraham. If you get that book be sure to check out the FARMS reviews for an alternative view which are easily found by googling.

If you wish to get an introductory level treatment of the issues being debated from a believing mormon, I recommend John Gee’s “A Guide to the Joseph Smith Papyria”.

fool
