Book of daniel, sealed up til the end?

“But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.”
(Daniel 12:4 KJV)

“And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”
(Daniel 12:9 KJV)

So, if this is true, then how did these ‘words’ get unsealed today, so we can understand them? Also, who did the ‘unsealing’? Does the Vatican control when these are to be released/ unsealed?

IMO I think I would ask a Rabbi this question. What does this have to do with Catholicism or Christianity at all. That’s OT teaching of some kind.

Truth is unitive. Nothing in the Old Testament is not (double negative) Catholic. Catholics are Messianic Jews, see? Everything in the Old Testament points to the Messiah, and His “new and eternal covenant.”

Are you sure? Explain the psalmist who says “In his hands he holds their bands.” The seven spirits before the throne that go to and from the throne. Yours is a very narrow interpretation. I guess it’s who or what you consider a messiah.

Thoughts on this are that at the time these things come about we shall see them as they begin to unfold. Then we shall better understand both Daniel and Revelation.

There are some events that we could never have understood before the time that we live in. That I think is partly the meaning of sealed up until the end.

I agree with the other posters that the OT is critical to the Catholic Faith, and that Jesus came to fulfill the prophets’ messages and bring the New Covenant. However, I starkly disagree with the statement that Catholics are Messianic Jews. While the roots of the Christian Faith may have been in Judaism, the very recognition of Christ as Lord and Savior forever separated our forward paths from the Jewish Faith, and Christianity was formed.

The way I look at it and maybe I’m wrong. When Jesus says things or the NT says things concerning Jesus and “this was spoken of by the prophets” that’s a go for me to know that’s what was being spoken of. But some things don’t necessarily have to be about Jesus I wouldn’t think. I am looking at this in an open way. Not necessarily strictly Catholic though it seems like most or all of us on this thread are Catholic.
