Does anyone understand Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of the statue or how it fits into history? Anyone welcome to give feedback.

Sorry that’s the best that I can ask the question at the moment.

The head was Babylon.
The breast and arms represented Medes and Persians.
The belly and thighs of brass were Greece.
The legs and feet represented Rome.
I believe the toes to represent a time yet to come, with ten kingdoms, and the second coming of Christ.

Do you know where we are in earth’s history according to that dream?

Well, there is a large gap from the Roman Empire to now. I have heard the 10 toes represent 10 separate kingdoms after the Roman empire. The problem with that theory is toes are linear not vertical, so that doesn’t make much sense to me.

I have also heard some make reference to legs and feet to mean Rome & Roman Catholic Church which is obviously still in existance. This also then allows for RCC and the ten toes to be together at Christ’s second coming.

Yes…4th century BC, earlier in the Babylonian exile. The statue and its different parts and the material which each is made represents the Babylonian kingdom and the succeeding kingdoms that ruled afterward; when the statue is destroyed represents when the kingdom of God is brought to earth, Jesus.

The book of Daniel is thought to be dated within the 2nd century BC and reads of the past kingdoms that ruled over the Israelites and have fallen and all of the ones to come until that day when the Kingdom of God is here on earth, the time of Christ.

This dream was written with no meaning, as far as prophecy goes, for today. It was written for a people who had been enslaved by on foreign power after another. It was written to encourage these people to continue. For no kingdom would triumph over the people of God!

Commentaries by Raymond Brown, New Jerome B Com, there are many others. Be careful of commentators who have an agenda. Look at the text, in its’ time setting to find the author’s message.

If you go into scripture study looking for the prophecy of the “end times”, guess what, you’ll find it. This is called proof texting.

I do believe that all of us can find scripture in the Gospel where Jesus teaches us the only the Father know the time and place, so why do so many teach that they know?

I expect my life to be lived in the peace and service of Christ; I am ready to go right now! I don’t care if the end is tomorrow, why should you?

Why do we spend so much of the limited amount of time on earth studying scripture to see the future and we miss the present. Jesus, because of our love for Him (but remember He loved us first) expects us to serve Him by serving His Church, the Body of Christ. We don’t serve for recognition or salvation, we serve because we are saved by Christ and love Him and therefore serve our neighbor.

Are you truly seeking truth? If you are you need to find yourself a good “bible based church”, you know the local Catholic Church in your area and start the journey home to Christ in His Church!

Some of these fundamentalist preachers can be funny to watch on TV, as I would never go see them in person. I was flipping through the “God channels” the other night and this guy was explaining to his congregation as to how he could prove that Henry Kissinger was the anti-Christ. Does anybody here even know who he is?

It’s simple he said, each letter of the alphabet has a numerical value. For example, A=6, B=12, C=18, etc. Each letter up into the alphabet you just add 6 to the previous value, it’s that simple. Kissinger added up equates 666. Now you have to admit that’s pretty funny, but the people were eating this garbage up. It’s sad not funny; it is not good to lead the people of God astray.

Dan.2: 38And wheresoever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thine hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.
39And after thee shall arise another kingdom inferior to thee, and another third kingdom of brass, which shall bear rule over all the earth.
40And the fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron: forasmuch as iron breaketh in pieces and subdueth all things: and as iron that breaketh all these, shall it break in pieces and bruise.
41And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters’ clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay.
42And as the toes of the feet were part of iron, and part of clay, so the kingdom shall be partly strong, and partly broken.
43And whereas thou sawest iron mixed with miry clay, they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay.
44And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever.
45Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.

Here is Daniels interpretation of the dream. If you were to lie this statue on it’s side you would have a timeline. It is a prophecy of the history of the world up until the second comming of Jesus which is the stone cut out without hands. The only kingdom identified here is the first one Babylon v. 38 “Thou art this head of gold.” However as we progress through the book of Daniel we see other Kingdoms revealed. These are all kingdoms that rule the world. In chapters 7&8 the first three are identified as Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, The fourth can be identified by asking yourself what the next world power was and that would be the iron kingdom of Rome. The feet and toes discribe the state of Europe up until the present day invs. 41-44

Altho many have tried Europe will never be united under one head. The iron mixed in with the miry clay represents the power of the Roman empire still at work through the church of Rome or the CC. We are living in the time represented by the toenails. And as you can see the only thing left is for the Rock of Ages to return. Are you ready?

What did you get from the Bible?
Simple, inspiration and truth!!!

That is what’s so ironic about your nickname, you call yourself “truthseeker” and yet you ignore truth, your nickname should be “truthdeveloper”, or “truthmaker”.

You keep posting things that your tradition states as truth whenit is refuted by the same scripture you site to produce the thought.

Look at the text, in context, within its time setting and desired purpose of the author, then you will see what the truth is for today.

The writtings of the Prophet Isaiah were not correctly interpreted untill Jesus came to interpret and fufill them, so how does your teacher claim to know what Jesus Himself told all of us that only the Father knows the time and place?

Put down your agenda for a little while and LOOK AT THE TEXTS!

Richard_Kastner:
History is your friend if you choose to acknowledge it. Much of these items you site can be found in historical documents, why would you choose not to accept history as help to interpret scripture?

None of this refers to the Roman Catholic Church. Are you insinuating that the Roman Empire, the government and province of Rome, is still alive within the RCC? Now that’s a first for me. Do you not question what you are being told as to whether it is true or not? Protestants often describe RCC’s as mind numbed robots because we rely on the Pope and the bishops in communion with him, the magisterium, to interpret scripture and set moral standards in which we live, but you believe something some one tells you that goes against history and scripture in the context in which it was written.

This is straight from the commentary of the NAB translation. This is much more plausible than the interpretation you give.

[36-45] The four successive kingdoms in this apocalyptic perspective are the Babylonian (gold), the Median (silver), the Persian (bronze), and the Hellenistic (iron). The last, after Alexander’s death, was divided among his generals (Daniel 2:41-42). The two resulting kingdoms, which most affected the Jews, were the dynasty of the Ptolemies in Egypt and that of the Seleucids in Syria, who tried in vain, by war and through intermarriage, to restore the unity of Alexander’s empire (Daniel 2:43). The stone hewn from the mountain is the messianic kingdom awaited by the Jews (Daniel 2:44-45). Our Lord made this image personal to himself; cf Luke 20:17-18.

As far as where are we in time compared to this writting, we are within the promised Kingdom that “shall stand forever.”

This was written by a second century (BC) Jew to his people to encourage them to stand fast and persevere. It is a writting that takes some historical data, passed down in that stuff you protestants ignore - “tradition”, from the Babylonian exile of the 5th century BC.

You cannot change what scripture means and its purpose to prove what you say is true, unless you are Jesus Christ.

You need to ask the Prophet Daniel about that. .

Can you please explain what is the iron and what is the Clay that you think the RCC is trying to mix?

Can you please explain what the RCC has to do with Europe uniting under one head?

Can you please explain which power of the Roman empire is still at work through the CC? I am very confused by your post.
