I’m currently in dialogue with a Muslim and he has doubts about the books of the Bible in terms of authorship and dates.

He’s asked a specific question – when was the book of Deuteronomy written?

Can anyone answer this?

I don’t know the year, but Dueteronomy was basically Moses’ farewell speech, written as he was aging and knew that he would soon die.

I’ve had a Muslim ask me to read a book titled, “The Bible, The Koran, and Science” in an attemept to convince me that the Koran was more scientifically accurate than the Bible. The argument totally ignores that the Bible isn’t a science book, so if the Muslim is operating off of a premise similar to this book, you may be in for a battle which has failed from the start.

This is just a head’s up. Don’t be surprised if your friend says something about the last chapter of Deuteronomy. It basically tells of Moses going off to a mountain to die. It is sometimes used by non-Christians to attack the Bible (e.g. “If Moses wrote it, how did he write about what happened after he died?”). It is commonly accepted that Joshua wrote the last chapter.
