I have always believed that the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God. My friend pointed out that Ezekiel Chapter 23 is nothing short of being Pornography. After reading it I was embarrassed to tell him that I had no comment to make!
Someone please explain this book to me.

A graphic demonstration of the Nation of Israel turning away from the covenant of God. A turning away that the prophets many time describe as adultery.

And is that so surprising? Do not the sins of the flesh that so easily and so deeply ensnare not fall under the command to not commit adultery? Do you think God gave us this command only so that we would be faithful in our marriages? Or are our marriages not to show our faithfulness in all our lives. To our wives/husbands, children, families and yes to our God. Sins of the flesh tear and break the bonds of family and friendship and the prophet here is describing the deep hurt of an offended husband whose wife has turned to being a whore. He is trying to make the people see how they have offended their God who has given them everything.

So no I don’t think its pornographic at all. I think it is deeply moving and sad and it causes me to see myself and remember that I too have turned away again and again from the Savior who calls me back and loves me more than I love Him.

I was surprised to learn that I was exposed to pornography without noticing it.

The theme of Israel as God’s bride is current in the Bible. Read Ezechiel chapter 16 and you will see this theme developped more clearly.

In the Old Testament, a spade is called a spade, and the vocabulary of sexuality is undisguised. The use of such vocabulary is not in itself pornography. Pornography aims for sexual arousal, which you will find nowhere in the Bible.

If one is disturbed by something in the Bible, they are free to skip over it. This goes for any type of writing. But to accuse God (the real author of the Bible) of pornography is akin to blasphemy, don’t you think ?
