I’m doing a research paper on the Book of Kells as well as Irish/Scottish medieval monasticism in general. Does anyone have any interesting info/links about the book, saints of that time (Patrick, Columba, etc), or anything else? So far its been really fascinating research but I’d love more info from a catholic perspective. 🙂

I’ve seen it.

It is an illuminated codex kept at Trinity University, Dublin. During the anti-Catholic persecutions of the 1600s, it was hidden in a peat bog, which preserved it.

After the Christianization of Ireland in the 500s, the manufacture of liturgical books, for use all over Europe, was a major effort of the numerous Irish monks.
