Book on Purgatory for Protestant

I’m looking for a book recommendation on Purgatory for a Protestant family member (not super high literacy level). I am trying to explain to her why it is real and biblical. I’m not trying to scare her per se but I want her to know that it is a real place.
 
Father Apostoli on EWTN had a guest speaker the last two weeks who has explored in depth our teaching on Purgatory and the Holy Souls. It was very interesting, and can be viewed here. Susan Tassone has written many books on Purgatory, and Father calls her a wonderful teacher on this subject. Amazon has many of her books, if you think this would be helpful after viewing the program.

The Bible…the one with all the books. 🙂

One thing to start off with is that purgatory seems to be the name of the purifying process, not a place. CCC 1030 - 1032

While Susan Tassone does write a lot on Purgatory they are mostly devotionals I think. I have Day By Day for the Holy Souls in Purgatory by her and use it as part of my daily prayer.

I would start with a general book like Catholicism for Dummies which has a section on Purgatory. Then there are these tracts from Catholic Answers…

I forget who wrote it, but you can buy it anywhere.

Really interesting book about visions people have had of souls from purgatory asking for prayers.

Two free downloadable books on Purgatory. The blue book is the best.

Maria Simma and Nicki Eltz book “Get us out of here”

“Read me or Rue me” by Fr Schouppe (experiences of the saints of Purgatory),

Gloria Polo “God’s Judgement” (she was a lapsed catholic who was hit by lightning and saw Heaven, Purgatory and hell, because she paid for abortions, and used contraception, her judgement was hell but she was given a second chance, she travels the world speaking now)
 
Actually the “Read me or Rue it” book is by Fr Paul O’ Sullivan, (also available as an ebook from Amazon.com to download onto the free kindle app on your phone or tablet, or laptop) about the saints and Purgatory
(Protestants do read about some of the catholic saints, especially the ones from pre-reformation times, so to see that even the saints experienced revelations about Purgatory is inspiring

And the Fr Schouppe book is actually called “Purgatory explained by the lives and legends of the saints” (also available on amazon.com for ebook download onto any electronic device with free download of the kindle reader app)

(about a woman in Austria who had permission from Pope John Paul Ii to use her charism which was to see and pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, a ministry given to her by Our Lady. Maria Simma died in 2004 and might be a made a Saint someday
