Book on why people don't practice their faiths?

Whether Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, or whatever, does anyone know of a good book(s) on the subject of why people do not practice their faiths? i.e. people who would identify themselves with a certain faith, but not practice it.
 
a book like that wont sell. because the answers are pretty obvious. like we all went through it. not practicing our assigned religions. the reasons vary from boredom to disillusionment.

Im not sure Ive ever heard of a book about that:shrug:

My short answer would be that they dont fully believe in whatever it is they were brought up in.

You know when you are raised a certain way and then become a teen and rebel and end up either never believing or turning to some other form of religion.🤷

Just my opinion of course;)
 
For Catholic and Protestant, the good book that tells why people don’t practice their faith is the Bible - it does say a lot about us. 🙂

For other religions, I have no clue.

AHHH now to this I have an answer;) People dont follow because they dont want their sin to be found out. They would rather hide in darkness then to step into the light. Humbling yourself and submitting your life to Christ can be tough at first but well worth it:thumbsup:
 
From my personal experience…which was a cycle of religiousness and non religiousness…its because of other responsibilities and distractions in life.

like why waste time on a boring rosary session when you got better things to do? like doing your homework, doing your house chores, partying and watching your favorite show?

why go to confession when you can just ask god directly for forgiveness in prayers, which in turn ends up as…

why pray when you are just too tired by the time you got home? sometimes i just fall asleep in the middle of a bedtime prayer.

why go to mass when once you get there you dont really take it seriously?

most of us are like that regardless of religion.

Yeah unfortunately life can take over. Although your statements have negative attitudes behind them. Someone who is doing their best to follow their said religion would try to put it first even if life gets in the way. They would probably feel guilty about it.:o

I think I need to pray for you AT. This is just a sad, bitter, apathetic solliloquy, that religion for you is “what is God going to do for ME.” Not the opposite view of servanthood that many of us have. No?

like I said, my life had been a cycle of religiousness and unreligiousness. there were two cycles wherein i spent years of being very religious. who knows, your prayers for me might trigger a 3rd cycle. Amen? 😃

I have never stayed away for a matter of years,but i have had my lapses.They happened when i prayed hard for something and didn’t get what i requested.I looked around and saw people who
didn’t give a toss for anyone getting all the rewards that were going
It’s my Faith in God that is weak.I find,as i get older,God doesn’t
lift me clean out of the water,he just puts his hand under my chin to stop me from sinking.
I hasten to add i am not the jealous type.I can applaud and congratulate successful people who get their success by hard work.
