I was sitting near a lady in Mass this morning, and she had a book that piqued my interest - however, I can’t remember the name of it and I wondered if anyone here could help.

It’s a red book, a little larger than a Missal, and it has a Chi-Rho on the front. The title is something like ‘The Ricolatta’ or ‘The Palocotta’ or something like that. I searched for just about all the combinations I could on the book name, but to no avail…

Any help?

The Raccolta?

It’s called the Raccolta, an Italian word meaning “collection,” and is just that–a collection of the various indulgenced prayers and devotions approved by the Church.

For more information, see the Catholic Encyclopedia on New Advent.

The Raccolta is available on line, but has it not been replaced by the Enchiridion of Indulgences?

Do you have a link to either?
Raccolta. Revised under Pope Pius XII, this official collection of Church’s prayers and devotions was published in English in 1957. It includes additional prayers for many urgent needs all composed under the same pontiff. Many of the more commonly used prayers and devotions are followed by the Latin text. Perfect for teachers and parents anxious to keep the Church’s language both alive and spiritually efficacious. These prayers touch practically every spiritual and physical need, and every personal and societal hope. - Prayers and Devotions 1958 Edition Reprint - Red Bonded Leather Hardcover - Red and Black Ink - 800 pgs

You can get it here. I have one it is a beautiful book.
