Book Question

Not sure this is even the right place to ask this, but am wondering two things:

1. Does any home schooling parents or parochial school parents have favorite books about the Church beliefs that they recommend.
2. Are there places where one could buy these types of books used.

I am interested in studying the Catholic faith in a text-like fashion, but I don’t want something that is so in depth that I become too lost. I have looked around the net and found the Didache Series, but they were very expensive. In fact, every text or workbook that I’ve run across has been pretty pricey for someone taking a look-see.

So, I’m wondering if any of you have any ideas or thoughts. I very much appreciate it.

Have you tried calling Catholic Answers? They have a ton of resources and they don’t have to be expensive.

I have bought several of their books. They are EXCELLENT and affordable.

Also, check out Matthew Kelly’s website, the Dynamic Catholic, it is great!

The Catechism of the Catholic Church is inexpensive, free online.

The same is probably true of Ludwig Ott’s “Fundamentals of Catholic Dogma” and Frank Sheed’s “Theology for Beginners.” Any of Pope Benedict/Josef Ratzinger’s many books.
