I know you asked for books, but you might check out babycenter.com (for the information, not for the forums!). I encourage you to stay away from the forums because in my experience some of the people can be really harsh if you don’t agree with their parenting philosophies. You don’t need that aggravation while pregnant or while home with a newborn.
Having said that, remember to simply do what is best for YOUR family with regard to raising your child(ren).
it’s been quite a while since I had an infant in the house, but I do remember being overwhelmed with all of the baby products available. So don’t buy multiples of anything until you know for sure that it’s going to work (I’m thinking of bottle nipples in particular). Each baby is different! I found diaper genies to be ridiculous, I just walked to the garage and put the dirty diaper in the trash. But some people thought they were awesome.
People have opinions about everything under the sun when it comes to babies, from whether to let them suck their thumbs to whether you should be a working mom. This is where remembering to do what is best for YOUR family comes into play. Listen to your gut (and your pediatrician)
