Book Recommendation for a 'Prepper'?

Ouch. I know you aren’t Catholic, but on behalf of you mother, would you be willing to go to people higher in the chain of command than these people? They are using their positions to teach something that the Catholic Church doesn’t.

There are, unfortunately, people in the Church who have no idea what the Church teaches. I sell used books & will find books for people. But I have had Catholics ask me to find new age books & books about visionaries that haven’t been approved - often quite the opposite. I refuse to to look for or sell these kind of books.

…and while you’re at it–that is, while you’re picking up a copy of that book for ‘Mom’…perhaps you’ll consider picking up–for yourself–another excellent book he (Currie) wrote:

Born Fundamentalist, Born Again Catholic.

She did try to explain to me something once about there was some Catholic theology or predictions behind it (to be honest my eyes kind of glazed over at that point)…but it had to do with various appearances and people coming to power. I don’t want to go into too much detail about what it was because some of it seemed really inappropriate.

This is truly shameful.

I hope someone brings this to the attention of the Bishop.

…speaking of which…could you kindly let us know which diocese this is happening in? Perhaps a word to Bishop’s office that this is happening in his diocese–arguably, through his office–might prompt an investigation, to root out this completely un-Catholic error from continuing to be promoted through his office…

Haha 😃 I will get Curie’s book for Mom, thank you. One of these days, maybe I’ll have to look at the other, but I can tell you that one prayer I’ve always prayed since I was ‘Born Again’ is wherever God wants to send me I’ll go, but that is probably a discussion for another thread 😉

Maybe. As far as I know the couple isn’t trying to spread this message. They are actually very close family friends. They are very very quiet about it. I think if this book doesn’t get her back on the right track, I will first go to the couple and talk to them. I do know the Bishop personally, and I really hope it won’t come to that, but I could talk to him if necessary.

I am trying to gauge the situation right now, and keep my mother from getting derailed. If it seems to be a larger problem though, I will go to them first. So far, I do not have any reason to believe that they have spread this message or talked to anyone else about it other than her (and she brought the issue up with them).

I wouldn’t recommend just 1 book for a Prepper. Instead I’d recommend having a ton of military manuals, printed out and stored just in case. You can download military manuals on the net for free, but be careful because there are so many viruses out there that could destroy your computer. The best collection of military manuals I’ve found are at thespectergroup.com. They offer free updates also. 😃
 
:I certainly wish you well. Please remember the POWER of Prayer. It has been said that we cannot come to an understanding of Scripture without the assistance of the Holy Spirit who inspired it. Likewise, I feel that we must trust in a higher power to give proper perspective to other readings as well. Logical arguments can always be lost, even when we are in the right.
Pray for revelation, perhaps it will then seem to her that even the best written words are like so much straw…
We can always learn…but only with God’s help can we truly be expected to understand.:twocents:
