Book Recommendation: History and Reliability of the Bible

Hello everyone:

I am looking for a book on the history of the bible. I’d like to do more reading related to how the bible came to be and why we can trust it. If you have a recommendation to share, I’d really appreciate it.
 
“Where we Got the Bible” by Henry Graham is a good, quick read.
 
The reliability of the Bible is manifested in the acceptance of Him to whom it points; Jesus Christ.

Yes, but EmergingFaith may want to rely on Faith and Reason. Faith is necessary for Salvation, but Reason is often necessary for leading others to Salvation.

As a convert I can agree with this. Many if not almost all converts are from a Protestant background. That Protestant background tends to go by the “Show me where” or “Where does it say that” type of points of reference. I am a team member with our parish PCIA team. as a convert I try to be sensitive to this position and ensure there is documentation on matters of the Catholic faith.
 
There is a reference book, by a Protestant named Josh McDowell called, “New Evidence That Demands a Verdict”, (the orig. was just “Evidence That Demands a Verdict”, if I’m not mistaken.) Anyway, I have this one and there is quite a bit of info…you might even be able to get it in a library or from library loan.
