Not sure if this is the correct forum, but it did say “advice” in the description so I’ll give it a shot…

My confirmation candidate struggles with depression, anxiety, body image issues, and overall low self esteem. I was wondering if anyone had any good book recommendations that address these issues that are teen friendly? All suggestions are welcome ( I should add that she suffers from dyslexia, so something that might not trip her up too badly?)

Thanks,
Jeannine

I’m not sure if it will help with all of her issues, but YOUCAT (the youth catechism) would be a nice gift to any teenage confirmation candidate. There might also be a saint who faced some of those same challenges, if so a bio of said saint would be a good choice. Good luck and God Bless. 👍

“Because God is Real” by Peter Kreeft is good. He articulates the faith in an easy to read manner that is incredibly insightful. Hopefully this will help with her depression and anxiety because there’s a great calmness and hope that comes with the book.

It’s made with confirmation canidates in mind, and I can’t reccomend it more highly. It’s relativly short and lays down the basics of the faith and much more!
