Book Suggestion: A Biblical Walk Through The Mass

I’ve finished reading “A Biblical Walk Through The Mass”, written by Dr. Edward Sri.

I enjoyed the book at suggest that anyone who would like to learn more about the Mass consider reading it.

Dr. Sri does a great job of explaining the Biblical and traditional basis behind everything that is said and done at Mass. He begins with a great explanation of the “Sign of the Cross” and works his way through every phase of the Mass. There is indeed much significance to every gesture and word.

“A Biblical Walk Through The Mass” would be a great resource for RCIA participants. I’m a new Catholic myself, and Dr. Sri’s book has helped to increase my appreciation for the Mass and the Catholic Church.

Understandng the reasons behind what we do and say in Mass makes the Mass even more inspirational.

EWTN also had a 13 part series on another book that you might enjoy. The program is called, “Biblical Story of the Mass” and the book is written by Thomas Nash and his book is called “Worthy is the Lamb: The Biblical Roots of the Mass.”

I found the series on EWTN’s online schedule and will definetely check it out. For some reason, our cable guide is often incorrect for EWTN, so I don’t notice some of these series.

I second this – it is a good book, and a helpful resource on some of the changes coming in the new English translation of the Mass.

There needs to be more awareness among Catholics (and other Christians) of the scriptural roots of Catholic liturgy!
