Hello,
I enjoy reading to my 14 year old daughter. I am wondering if anybody has any spiritual or catholic book suggestions for me to read to her? I just recently finished reading “The Christmas Tree” to her.

Thank you!
Nora 🙂

The Bible.

Which parts? Since you seem to be looking for stories, then these parts seem appropriate:

–The Gospels.

–The Parables of Jesus.

–The Song of Songs.

–The Book of Job.

–The story of Susanna in the Old Testament. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susanna_(Book_of_Daniel

–The story of Joseph and His Brothers in the Old Testament. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_and_His_Brothers

I don’t recommend the letters of Paul, or the other letters in the New Testament. That’s mostly theology and arguing with heretics.

Happy reading.

Don’t worry if you happen to not know the complete meaning of some of the stuff in the Bible. No one does. But it doesn’t matter. Adults and children benefit just from hearing the Word of God in the stories in the Bible.

In my view, the Bible is much better than religious fiction, for both children and adults.

Hello…

I think a wonderful book for a young girl to read or for you to read to, is a book on saints… any saint. In fact, if you have an ebook reader, there are some free books on the stories of the saints… I mention this because oftentimes young people don’t really understand how important our faith is until they hear about the saints and martyrs who truly lived as Christians, and these stories can put her own faith into perspective, and even your own. Again, just do a search for “saints” at amazon.com or even online, and there are tons of resources for the long-version of stories and shorter ones that you can consume within 30 minutes. I just got done reading the free Kindle version (you can probably find different formats online by searching) of From Sex Addict to Saint - Margaret of Cortona, which is not about sex addiction, but about a worldly beautiful girl who finds true happiness through penance and a poor life nursing the sick. It’s a one-night read and a beautiful, uplifting story, especially for a young woman.

Anyways, just thought I’d add my couple cents. God love you.

Wonderful idea! I look forward to reading about the saints in books and on my kindle.

Thank you!

How about The Screwtape Letters by CS Lewis. Very interesting and thought provoking, perfect for a teen.

The Chronicles of Narnia?
Maybe the Lord of the Ring Trilogy if she’s ambitious?
