My father in law is going to be spending 4 weeks in Italy, starting later this week, and while he’s out there, I wanted to get him a book or two to read that would provoke his consideration of Jesus’ mercy. I’m thinking that with all the saints buried out there, if it’s on his mind, he might be open to some sight-seeing and contemplation of the saints, and what they died for.
He is deeply sensitive to guilt, he has a tremendous amount of guilty feelings for the way he has lived his life, but believes that faith in Jesus and in His mercy is “great that other people have that”. I’m hoping he’ll realize that he can have it too, if he only considers it possible, and asks for it.
I was thinking about Butler’s Lives of the Saints, but after reading a bit of it, consider it to be too much for him at this stage. I’m going to get him a book about The Divine Mercy, but was really hoping I could find something about the saints that he would find historically engaging, and thought-provoking.
And it needs to be on Kindle, he won’t take a real book with him on his trip.
Thank you in advance.
