Hi, I am a practicing Catholic who has a friend who is New Age/agnostic. I would like to give her a book about the faith that does not use a lot of scary Catholic terminology, but speaks to her on her level. Any suggestions?

I recommend “Story of a Soul,” the spiritual memoir of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. She’s down to earth and funny. And her approach to spirituality is simple, but not easy.

Make sure to give her the John Clarke translation.

Read it for yourself and you’ll see what I mean.

Mere Christianity
The Chronicles of Narnia
Out of the Silent Planet
The Lord of the Rings

‘Mere Christianity’ by C.S. Lewis is a good one. Lewis lays down some good arguments; arguments that are important for christians to understand (such as the need to recognize that we need a perfect Savior).
