Book to understand Catholicism better

So I’m looking for a book to help understand the faith better. I have a basic understanding on some things. (Ex: with praying to the saints for example, I know the general reasons of why, but if I was asked to really explain it, I’d need to look stuff up.) I also have questions about some of the scandals in our Church’s history such as with the Papal Schism and Indulgences issues. Some boks I’m considering right now are Trent Horn’s Why We’re Catholic and Fr. Canon Francis Ripley’ s This is the Faith.

I’m also considering getting The Imitation of Christ, but that would be on the side amd not for the prupose of understanding the faith.

So any recommendations?

“My Catholic Faith” it’s an older book, but definitely very good, it’s used by some to teach the Faith.
 
Real Catholic History by Steve Wiedencomp. Covers all the ’ scandals’ in depth. ( Inquisition, clergy sex abuse , crusades etc)
 
I’ve read Trent’s book on why we’re catholic. It’s a great book that covers all the topics in a light way for easy understanding.
 
I have GOT to order that.
There are many gold suggestions here. And a question for thise that have read The Faith Explained, This Is the Faith, and Why We’re Catholic, if you’ve read a few of those, which stood out best to you?

Get the Imitation of Christ. I am currently reading it and loving it. Lots of wisdom there to help your spiritual growth.

It arrived a couple days ago. I’ve got a lot to read right now so I’m going slow, but it is a good book so far.

I’d also suggest Patrick Madrid’s Pope Fiction for some good, quick answers about scandals in the Church.
 
As a side note, I am going to be reading Rediscovering Catholicism. I can’t remember the author as it is.
