Has anywone heard this cd 23 Minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese? I dont really believe it but alot of people in my area do and Im just wondering if anyone has any clarification on that for me?? Thanks everyone. God bless.

**My grandson showed me a book with the same title last week. I was under the impression it was from a Calvary Chapel bible based church writer. ( There was a reference to Chuck Smith.) The description of Hell was backed up by continuous scripture reference.

While I did not actually read the book, but looked it over with commentary by my Grandson, I was under the impression that the author claims that Jesus Christ escorted this person to Hell for a personal tour. Whether one believes the personal revelation was true or not, it scared me!!

It was a good source for remembering humility at all times.**

hey thanks for replying. yeah it will sure scare ya into straighting up! I just was wondering what the churches teaching was on that. Seems like God wouldnt do this if you read Luke 16:24-31 and Mt 24:4-5 tells us about fake Jesus’. I just really wish the Church would issue statements on these things to clear up confusion. But I guess that would not ease the relationship or help bring all Christians back to one Church. AHHH politics…

I do not believe the Church feels the need to respond to whom ever.

If you are interested in private revelalations about Hell, read the Divine Mercy in My Soul. The diary of Saint Faustina Kowalski. In case you are not familiar with her, she was a humble polish nun that was priviledge to experience a transforming union with Our Lord. There is a lot more to be said about this her, but I could not possibly add anything. See her diary reference 741. Saint Faustina was accomanpanied by an angel to the chasms of Hell. It is a very frightful encounter. I took this reading very seriously.

Sincerely,

Nancy

There is also the infamous ‘Letter From Beyond’, supposedly written by a damned soul to her best friend who was still living. The most frightening thing about this document(even if it is not genuine, which I rather think it isn’t)is how realistic the damned soul’s attitude seems to be: She is consumed with fury, repeatedly expresses the wish that her friend were suffering eternally alongside her, and in general the writing has the ring of truth. This is also a scary read.

I just read 23 Minutes in Hell. I found Bill’s account terrifying but compelling. Whether you believe Bill’s story or not, the Bible seems to agree with his description of hell, even though it is incredible to think that this could happen and that Jesus would take someone to hell and back.

The most important points are these:

Hell is not a place where Jesus wants us to go.

However, we do all have free choice. We can choose Jesus or not. But it is not just believing in Jesus. Even the demons believe in Jesus. (James 2:19 - You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!) We need to follow Him, trust Him, really turn our whole lives over to Him. It’s like the difference in dating someone, and marrying them. Jesus desires our total commitment to Him because we are planning to live forever with Him in heaven.

If however, we do not choose Jesus, then the only place we can end up is hell, a place where the love, mercy, beauty, light, life, peace, joy of God does not exist. God does not want us to go there, but He will not force His love on us. We must choose Him.

Matthew 7:13-14 states “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”

If you pray to Jesus to show you the way, He will help you find it.

Anyone read this book by Bill Weise? What did you think?
Whether it happened or not, I can’t say but I found it an interesting read. My impression of what he went through is that he landed in purgatory. I especially thought this when he was placed near the pit of fire and saw the demons keeping people in the fire. This image is clearly hell, but he was not in the fire only close enough to know that is not where he wanted to be.
Maybe he called his experience hell because he is not a Catholic, it just seemed to me to be an image of purgatory. What do you think?

I have the book and am inclined to believe it, same with the book “90 Minutes in Heavan.”

I saw a book @ the bookstore yesterday titled 20 Minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese., A Protestent tells a story of visions or dreaming actual hell. I am not sure if a dream or ?? I thumbed thru it wondering if any notes on Fatima and the childrens vision of hell but nothing. It is a true story. Anyone familiar with this book?

It’s actually 23 Minutes in Hell, but that doesn’t really matter. It is interesting. I read it it, and the guy tells readers constantly that it doesn’t matter if the reader believes him or not, as long as they believe in the reality of hell and check the scriptures. Now, I read this before coming into full communion with the church, but, from my recollection, I don’t think there was anything in there that conflicts with Church teaching.

And there’s a book called 20 Minutes in Heaven and I read one called To Hell and Back. It might be interesting to compare the collections of NDE stories adn find out how many kinds there are. I believe it was the author of To Hell and Back who said there are four or five kinds that his research uncovered.

Has anyone read this book? My Protestant neighbor gave the book to my 14yo daughter to read. I told her it was fiction and the neighbor told her it was non-fiction. Any ideas?

It doesn’t seem like fiction to me. It looks llike a man writing his account of what he believes to have experienced. It looks good, actually.

I would suggest reading it yourself before letting your 14 year old read it, though. Just to be sure that what it contains is not against Catholic teaching and/or too mature or frightening for her.

Excellent point. Actually, I am surprised the neighbor gave it to her without asking.

I’ve read the book, and it is impressive. Bill Wiese does a great job of connecting the narrative to Scripture, although not, since he is not Catholic, to Catholic teaching.

The content will be frightening to a young person. A book about Hell should be! But no more so than similar writing by such Catholics as Saint Anthony Mary Claret or Josefa Menendez.

I am still wondering whether the book is fiction or a genuine “travelogue.” The fact that it is more “likely” as fiction says nothing about whether it happened or not; and, again, the whole description is very closely tied to Scripture.

Should a 14 yo girl read it? That’s a parental call. If someone is not too young for Eternity, they are not too young to read about its pitfalls, IMNAAHO.

God bless you and her,

ICXC NIKA.

Thank you for the posts. I was upset that the book was given behind my back, and had my daughter return it before she finished reading. She is well aware of the existence of both Heaven and Hell. Sometimes the line between protective parent and paranoid mom gets a little blurred. Thanks for the clarity!

I am and have always been a devout “cradle” Catholic raised and graduated from Catholic school. This book was mentioned during a book club meeting about the 3 year old child’s version of “Heaven is for Real”. I have a short attention span and find it hard to concentrate to read books for pure “enjoyment” but I had never heard of a “so called true story” about someone’s experience to hell. I thought it was also based on a “near death” experience, but in the “Introduction” (not even in the 1st chapter of the book mind you), the author already tells us he just went to bed one night and was sent to “hell” so that he could come back and warn others that it exists. At this point I read through a couple more chapters because hey… it was a book on the New York Times best sellers list. But, I realized that if you are a Christian, then the Bible is the only book you need to read and believe in, and this book is for people who just hasn’t “got” Jesus yet in their hearts.

If your Catholic I would recommend the book "The Dogma of Hell, Illustrated by Facts Taken from Profane and Sacred History plus How to Avoid Hell" by F. X. Schouppe (Author), and Thomas A. Nelson (Author).
