What books would you recommend to read about the liturgy (theology, history, liturgical movement etc.)? So far, I’ve read books only in my native language (Polish), but I saw that a lot of old publications never been translated. Also some modern (value) books are still not available.

You might find this interesting:

O’Brien, J. (1881). A History of the Mass and Its Ceremonies in the Eastern and Western Church (Eighth Edition, Revised) New York: The Catholic Publication Society Co.

At time of writing, Fr. O’Brian was Professor of Sacred Liturgy in Mount St. Mary’s College, Emmittsburg, Maryland.

I just googled it, and it is available on Amazon for about $22 dollars…99 cents for Kindle.

Peace and all good!

The Spirit of the Liturgy by Josef Cardinal Ratzinger (later Pope Benedict XVI).

This is a list of books I have and like to revisit from time to time.

The two volume study by Fr. Josef Jungmann, S.J., The Mass of the Roman Rite: its origins and development (Missarum Sollemnia) available to download free here.

The Spirit of the Liturgy by Romano Guardini (translated by Ada Lane) is available to download free here.

The Spirit of the Liturgy by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger.

The Organic Development of the Liturgy by Alcuin Reid OSB.

My favourite writers on the liturgy are Josef Ratzinger, Louis Bouyer (he’s a little provocative though) and Dietrich von Hildebrand. I would recommend anything by them.
